nothappyjan Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Im dating a guy who has no experience with r/ships. We met online and we are both still on the site . No one has mentioned exclusivity which is fine. We have just kissed and hugged etc so far as he has no experience in anything else. Butttt I find it rude that right before we have plans to go out, he updates his profile?? To me that is just a bit rude, maybe im being sensitive but i feel like calling to cancel the date now.
TaraMaiden Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 what do you mean by "update"? Sorry, just clarifying.... I've never been on a dating site and would never use one..... but I understand why people do..... so I don't get your meaning.....

Author nothappyjan Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 Its an IM dating site so we both go on there to chat to each other and thats fine we both use it for for the chatting convenience but I havent added new info to my profile page and he only changed 1 or 2 words but when it gets updated it means you go to the top of the search pages so obviously he wanted more people to see him.

I always log in as appear offline so he couldnt have seen when im on there anyway unless i initiate conversation with him while he's also on.
thatone Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 of all of the silly excuses for female flakiness this is the silliest i've heard recently, i must admit. what you mean is you want to flake on him and are looking for an excuse. if this is the best you could find, he must be a saint.

Well its been about 7 weeks. As of late we see only once a week for a couple of hours even though we live pretty close and then when you top that off with him not taking himself off the dating site AND updating his profile to get more attention you can see why i would be wary of being taken for a ride and i just try and avoid future heartache.
TaraMaiden Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Why not just ask him why he did it? You know, when things are this fresh, and there's no commitment or exclusivity, you can't blame a person for keeping their options open. "I'm on the market." "I'm off the market". "Oh wait - hang on, I'm back on the market." "OK, false alarm - I'm off the market." "Damn - actually I'm back on the market". "No, sorry, ignore that - I'm off the market." "Hey, guess what.....?" See how silly it seems? Just stay on the market and see what happens, until you know one way or the other, what's for sure and what isn't..... I can't blame him for keeping his options open. Not sure why you're not doing the same. Just update, go back to the top of the pile, and see what else it brings!

It means he's not sure about you; a guy who's all in, goes days even weeks without being "online now".
Author nothappyjan Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 Yeah you guys are allll right. I did ask him casually and he denies doing it he said he hasnt logged in so who knows whats going on. I've pretty much got over it. It helps that im not 'all in' yet either.
