PrissyCilla Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 My boyfriend is taking them. I found out because I was on internet and saw in history. I confront him and he told me yes he was taking them. Idk what to say. Idk what do. He has always worked out lots. But worried steroids will kill him or sumthin. Is it okay to take these things?
TheCoolest Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I don't go out with men. And no i wouldn't go out with a woman who took steroids because i like slender woman. But i have taken steroids before. They aren't really as bad as the media makes them out to be. There is a difference between taking them and abusing them. When you are bodybuilder (i am) you eventually get to a point where your body can't build any more muscle. Once you get to that point its time to start taking the celltech (steroids). You can take them safely if you know what you are doing. But if he is some 17 year old just popping Dbol yea break up with him cuz it won't be long before he starts raging. You rage you lose. How old is he? How long has he been working out? Current weight and height? If he is over 21 not a big problem. If he is younger then 21 he needs to stop taking steroids. There is guidelines to this stuff. Tell him to do some research.

If you get to the point your body can't build any more muscle, and by that time you'll be huge, it's time to start cutting or do other stuff to look more attractive. Steroids are just not an option.

A friend that I went to high school with recently died (at the age of 27) from them. He worked out quite a bit and took them regularly. He died of a heart attack about 6 months ago. Seemed healthy as a horse - autopsy reported that it was from the steroids. Tell your boyfriend to stop.

Please tell me what these side affects are? I do know what they are but i'm not sure if you do. If your body can't build any more muscle you will not be huge. Especially if you are a taller guy. If you are under 5'10 yea you can get pretty big. But at 6'4 chances are you will still be pretty skinny. Fact: Most people can only build up to 30 pounds of muscle MAX. Some people can only build ten pounds. Its all about genetics. Not saying that steroids are good. Not saying that they are great for everybody. Not saying they are good for you. But they aren't gonna make you start raging and beating your girlfriend. There not gonna make you drop dead unless you have no idea what you are doing. Most of there side affects can be reversed when you get off the bicycle. Most of the time when someone is taking roids they aren't looking to get cut. They are looking to get BIG.
misssmartypants Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 If he's using illegal substances, it wouldn't matter what, I wouldn't date him. But I am a teacher and a mom and I have a lot to loose if I get associated with drugs and drug users.
vsmini Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I think it's important to note: Any person on here who defends the use of steroids in any capacity is a total douchebag And to boot - if you have to take steroids to get bigger because you can't get there naturally then you have body image issues, ego issues or just issues accepting the way you are. Even if you're a professional body builder - the argument I've made still stands.

I lived with a semi-pro body builder for a year, that man had much much more muscle that 30 pounds. He also couldn't pass a reflective surface without flexing and posing, binge drank, and spent hours at the gym. I dumped him for a skinny dude who had time for me and the room in his ego for another human being.

But they aren't nearly as bad as you may believe. And yup i sure did have body image issues (dead serious). But when you are a body builder it is part of the sport. Doesn't matter if YOU like it or not. Doesn't matter how YOU feel about it. I am simply stating the facts for HER to decide if she wants to date someone who takes them.
OldOnTheInside Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Is it okay to take these things? There are some pretty severe potential health risks, especially with long-term use. Go have a chat with a good chemist (or don't) if you wanna get some ideas. Up to you as to what you want to do from here.
Jynxx Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I don't see how it can be a dealbreaker if he would've passed without them. It can cause a roid rage. Then again, alcohol can cause agressive drunks (there's a reason they call Stella Artois "wifebeater" in the UK). It's bad for your health, then again, so are cigarettes and lying in the sun. It can kill you, just like cigarettes and alcohol. It's illegal? So is driving over the speed limit, doubleparking and in some places painting your front door a different color. What does that have to do with anything? Do you really trust your governement to tell you if something is morally wrong or right?

No you aren't building much more then 30 pounds of PURE SKELETAL MUSCLE and thats with dem good genetics. I'm not talking about fat. You can build infinite fat. I am talking about dat dere pure muscle. In the first year of lifitng if you have GOD like genetics and a perfect diet with damn near zero cardio you might be able to put on 20 pounds of muscle. Second year maybe ten pounds. After that 5 pounds a year max. Then you won't build muscle any longer. So yea max maybe a bit more then 30 pounds but for most average joes who have horrible diets it is less than 30 pounds. http://www.builtlean.com/2011/03/30/how-much-muscle-can-you-gain-naturally/ If your little boyfriend was the size of the black bodybuilder in that link then he was on the roids. If he was over 5% bodyfat (he was don't lie) then yea he might have weighted more then 30 pounds over his ideal bodyweight but it wasn't all muscle. Aware yourself.

cheergirl Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 whatever anyone says here, do some research of your own... If he's abusing them there can be psychological effects which put YOU in danger. This is a medical issue. Please get professional advice. Ask him what he takes and exactly how much. If he is less than forthcoming, you might have a reason to be concerned...
TheCoolest Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Where did I put my Don't Feed the Douchebag sign? But why are you mad though? You don't have an argument so you call me a douche bag? Everyone has different views. I calmly explained my views and then you come in and indirectly call me a douche bag because you have nothing to say. You rage you lose.

Nexus One Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Abuse of steroids can lead to: http://bit.ly/knZCQT Steroids also tend to increase aggression in the people who use it. Steroids are generally used to get ripped fast without having to do a whole lot of working out. However if you as a guy are 40 pounds overweight, then you can get ripped too in 5 weeks, although you'd probably be doing heavy workouts for 6+ hours a day. Some guys don't want to go through that, yet they want results fast, so they use steroids. You could suggest your boyfriend to switch to a high quality protein shake(whey isolate), that builds up muscle too, but it does require more of an effort when working out. Protein shakes are safer and legal. A good one tends to be "Gold Standard Whey". But I suspect he already knows this, yet despite that went for the steroids. Pay attention if he's showing aggressive behavior towards you or others. Him being violent towards you would be unacceptable.

Stuff in that picture will only happen if you are poppin dbols like its nothing. Thinking you are gonna get thick solid and tight. If you actually know what you are doing and use a stack chances are the worst that will happen is some decreased sex drive and a little gyno.
