I figured I would bring this topic up because everybody seems to have different opinions on the matter and I think it can cause a lot of confusion when dating. In the past I have dated girls who like to text all day when they first meet you, I have dated girls that like to text/call only a few times a day, and I have also dated girls who like to text/call only a few times a week. So when it comes to making sure that the girls communication needs are being met, how do you know what she requires? Do girls really want the guy to ask them how much communication they require? I have friends who are girls and hear them say things like "this guy only texts me a few times, I don't think he really likes me that much." Yet, the girl never initiates any communication herself. So the guy on the other end, who REALLY does probably like this girl, is coming off as 'not interested', when in fact he probably is crazy about her but just doesn't want to come off as needy. I see it all the time.

For example, this girl I'm seeing right now. I initiate all contact. I've only been out with her a few times and things are going great, but we don't communicate nearly as much as some other girls I've dated. Probably every 2-3 days we'll exchange a few texts with one phone call a week. She is a flight attendant and has a very busy schedule (works 6 days a week). Perfectly fine with me. However, how do I know for certain that she is not the girl like some of my friends, who are saying "he only texts me a few times per week, I don't think he really likes me." When I do see her, which is once a week, we usually spend the day together. We get along great and there is a big connection. So again, if the girl is hardly initiating contact with you.. and you know she likes you, how do you know if she is just standing by waiting or if that is what she prefers?
