wilsonx Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Guys/Gals... For the past 29 years, I really never LISTENED to music. I used it as background noise to distract but thats it until after this breakup. I pretty much listened to Pop Top 40, Rock, Alternative, some rap. This breakup has told me to get out there and try new things. One of my friends at work sees Im struggling but growing and getting better. She listens to christian rock/alternative and actually gave me a CD that she burned. I can tell you what she warned me about this one song, she says when ever she hears it, it reminds her of me in my present state. This song actually helped push me away from obsession and deeper into anger/depression. Third Day - Revelation The other songs on the CD are really good too. Also another good song that she suggested is Jeremy Camp - Let it Fade Ive never listened to christian music before but its really good. If you have any good coping/moving forward songs please share them
fiat500 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 not sure if this will upset anyone..but I find that when I listen to the following songs regarding failed relationships they always manage to make me laugh on a bad day: Not Crying - FOTC Leggy Blonde - FOTC Carol Brown - FOTC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9XCo3mBQQo
BrettLost Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Depenending on ur genre of preferance, u would be amazed to find exactly how many songs/lyrics are written about this stuff. I mean REALLY deep phrases decribing everything. SEVENDUST is by far the most satisfying band for me. The music, lyrics and the WAY he sings them... u feel his pain through his voice. Both inspiring yet can almost bring u to tears. Sevendust eg: Its not supposed to hurt this much But it can never feel the same again I'm left with nothin but the memory of the way u used to Feeeeeel So go and leave me with my last regret Let me feel the way u left me dead Too blind to see, U stole my honesty. I find there are WAY too many songs u hear that came out around the time things were sweet. Brings up good memories, then full on pain will follow knowing it is all lost. Mainly radio *****.
Yuzuki Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Like BrettLost said, it kind of depends what you're looking for / in the mood for. I balance between songs that remind me of the good times and make me cry (bad idea... I know ) and the more "Go away, I don't need you" type of songs. Theory of a Deadman is good for when you're angry (Hate My Life, Bad Girlfriend etc.). I've also been playing Apple and Cinnamon by Utada Hikaru a lot lately. It's more of a "it just wasn't meant to be" type of song.
Star Gazer Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 There are a couple songs popular right now that I wish I were around during my last breakup: "Best Thing I Never Had" - Beyonce "Don't Hold Your Breath" - Nicole Scherzinger
broken-and-lost Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 This is a killer at the moment for me it's beautiful even if it's a little painful i never use to listen to music but since the breakup music seems to mean more and seems more reflective.
danceallday Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Might not be everybody's style of music, but it does get me going when I am way down.
TheUnthoughtKnown Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Oh man, Frightened Rabbit is the way to go!! <--- A personal favourite of mine They are one of the best bands for break ups! Failing that, try a little Reindeer Section? Here, I'll throw you two of the utter best: The Reindeer Section - Where I Fall
