uplifted2 Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 A little background, me and my girlfriend broke up because her parents didnt agree with our relationship and we were dating for 7 months. I still see her 2-3 times a week at work as well. Well me and my ex girlfriend broke up a month ago and we decided to try to be friends well after trying to be friends, I decided that I was hurting too much to be friends with her. I texted her about 2 weeks after breaking up and told her this and she was okay with not being friends. The next day I needed a ride to the airport and I called her and she agreed to take me to the airport, but when she picked me up it seems that she was mad about something and she was very cold and stated that she shouldn't have done that. Well today we texted, I initiated it, and everything was going good so I stated that glad we can put this behind and be friends again and she replaied that she stil loves me and that her love for me will never change, but that we cannot be friends right now because our situation is filled with drama. I'm confused at first she sugested we be friends and now she doesnt wanna be friends?!?!?!?!? Can someone help me understand whats goin on in her head?!?!?! When we see each other we always talk, but we make sure to keep it short. I still care about her and love her, but we broke up for a reason that shouldnt matter!

The only thing I can think of is that you telling her you couldn't be friends anymore and then the NEXT day asking for a favor probably not only hurt her feelings but also maybe made her feel used. I may be wrong, but that's what it sounds like. Especially the "Shouldn't have done that" comment. Or perhaps her parents have something to do with it. Have you asked her what's going on? Attempted to set things straight? When you work together is it awkward? Perhaps it would be better to work things out for that reason alone. I'm assuming you're both adults, why do her parents have issues with the relationship?

Im 28 and shes 26 and her parents had issues with our relationship due to it being an interracial relationship, something they do not agree with and they support her financially and threatened to not speak with her anymore and I wanted to be with her but not at her expense of losing her family so it was a mutual breakup. I havenever asked her whats going on, but she did state that right now isnt a good time to be friends because shes about to finish school this summer and doesn't want the added stress of us being friends because it would be filled with drama right now. Its not awkward working together because we are always friendly towards each other. I think you may be right though about her feeling used because she was definitely frustrated with me when she came to pick me up.
