Gold Pile Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Yesterday I took my date to my favorite chain restaurant. We were seated by a new waiter, he spoke in a feminine way. Then I observed him checking out some guys who walked in, he wasn't checking out their lady friends. I'm a wise judge of character and I judged this character to be gay. I recalled the name of one of the waitresses (I dined there last week) and diplomatically asked him if Annie was working, I told him we always sat in her section. No problem, done. I know the manager pretty well, as I am a regular customer. I feel I should alert him to the fact that he hired a gay guy. But I'm uncomfortable pointing out something that will make the manager feel stupid, the signs were there if he had paid attention. That is my dilemma... how do I let him know he fouled up, without making him feel dumb?
numerical25 Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Most gay people arent hard to point out. Honestly I feel if you do this , it will be a lose lose situation for the only thing you will be doing is acknowledge the huge elephant in the room and might make the owner feel uncomfortable. Just because you have a certain view on gays doesn't mean the owner has the same views. Unless you and the owner have openly discussed and acknowledge your views on gays together and they are the same. As far as him checking out guys, you can't stop that. I check out this girl at my job all the time.
johan Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Something about this thread strikes me as being politically incorrect.
Afishwithabike Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Why do you even need to point out to the manager that he hired a gay waiter?
Mme. Chaucer Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Wow, you're not very perceptive, are you. Annie and everybody else at that dive know that the cute gay waiter is the managers new boyfriend. He already knows he's gay. Duh.
Feelin Frisky Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 The manager is not allowed to discriminate. It would be even better if the patrons were with contemporary reality enough to know that too.
Author Gold Pile Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 Why do you even need to point out to the manager that he hired a gay waiter? well, this isn't some funky club, this is a quiet place. People even bring their kids. It wouldn't be so good for kids to be exposed to that sort of thing.
D-Lish Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Lol, oh GP, it's been a while:p. Gay waiters aren't common AT ALL- surprised you ran into one:lmao:.
Lilmisus Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Lol, oh GP, it's been a while:p. Gay waiters aren't common AT ALL- surprised you ran into one:lmao:. You're right, they're an incredibly rare sighting. When one is spotted, alert the restaurant owner immediately before a kid is served by him in the family oriented restaurant...who knows the damage it could do to the kid? I work with at least three gay guys in a family oriented restaurant, and they are wonderful people who make my job so much better. It's pretty useless to worry about kids being around gay people and having a bad influence from them. So what? This is the 21st century, and the "new thing" is to love yourself and to accept the LGBT community. When better to do it than when you're a child and when you get a great server who so happens to be gay (and hopefully friendly)?
Author Gold Pile Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 Dlish, johan, Mme, Great see you guys again:) The manager is not allowed to discriminate. It would be even better if the patrons were with contemporary reality enough to know that too. You're not understanding me. I'm not against such people. There are places (no children allowed) that would be a fine place for them to work.
2sunny Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 good to see you GP - you missed Lizzie by a day or so... maybe she's still here somewhere... back on topic... hope that new waiter watches where he's bending over...

Actually it's me and the other decent male customers who have to use caution when tying our shoes around this guy.

I have this same problem while wearing a mini-skirt, so I'll impart some advice. Instead of bending over, SIT and pull your knee up one at a time- then tie your shoes this way. It just might save you from having an unexplained sore ass the next morning.

I'd so love to see you in a mini skirt:bunny: I'd not be on my best behavior. If you ever want to be a mini skirt wearing gold digger,............ I will support you.

Author Gold Pile Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 Is your place dog friendly? Nope:( I'd be your dog. I'd lick places that I hope your dog hasn't.
Author Gold Pile Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 I've side tracked my own thread by enjoying my old LS friends. My basic point is that a family place isn't the place for certain people to work. They shouldn't work in schools either. I 100% am not against these people and I fully support their right to work almost anywhere else. I'm ok with them marrying as well. (as long as they don't care for children) Back in the day, a punch to the face was the proper greeting when encountering a gay guy. Now I simply change my seat. We have evolved very fast.
Feelin Frisky Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 (edited) Dlish, johan, Mme, Great see you guys again:) You're not understanding me. I'm not against such people. There are places (no children allowed) that would be a fine place for them to work. Like what? Anything as long as you don't have to see them? I don't think anyone is doing children a favor by not exposing them to the range of people they'll encounter on their own. As long as a guy waiter isn't blowing another gay waiter while on duty in view, I don't see a problem. Edited July 1, 2011 by Feelin Frisky
thatone Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 well, this isn't some funky club, this is a quiet place. People even bring their kids. It wouldn't be so good for kids to be exposed to that sort of thing. arnaud's has gay waiters. it's one of the best restaurants in the country, if not the world. i really hope you don't have children, speaking of kids (or if you do, one turns out to be homosexual, that would be poetic justice). god i hate bigots (and i don't even believe in god).
anne1707 Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I m trying to understand why someone who is gay should not be near children and no matter how hard I try, I cannot force myself into that level of bigotry and prejudice.
Imajerk17 Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Nope:( I'd be your dog. I'd lick places that I hope your dog hasn't. Now you're trying just a little too hard, eager beaver. At least give them a chance to earn it...
oaks Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I feel I should alert him to the fact that he hired a gay guy. Hahaha. Always good to get a laugh on a Friday. Thanks.
