What looks range should I logically go for, being average looking and overweight?

I call BS. I know ugly dudes with skinny good looking girls. First of all looks are in the eye of the beholder. What i find ugly law maker may find good looking. Second of all woman are more likely to look past looks then a guy. I see beautiful woman with fat or just plain weird looking dudes everyday of the week. Most average men that have a personality have no problem getting a girl who is out of there league.

There is some truth to this. It's not like I've never seen a hot chick with a frumpy dude.. but you gotta ask yourself. What is she like? Does she have low self esteem and think that's the best she can get? Does she have weird personality issues that other guys simply cannot deal with? The list could go on and on.

One man's goddess may be another man's pain in the neck. It isn't ALL about looks.

I've really tried to get to the gym...however, I have so much to do that I never get there.

I lost more weight when living on my own. Unfortunately, I had to move back home recently, and that isn't very sexy.

I don't have an ugly face, but I have a huge beer belly, and skinny arms. I am working out with kettle weights, but I doubt that would build up muscle. I don't know anything about exercise, I hate to do it, so I never lifted weights before.

As far as "hot" vs "average", I don't find obesity to be attractive. I am attracted to skinny girls, who are pretty in the face and have good bodies. Yes, I know it's hypocritical, but I can't suddenly change what makes me hot. Nothing turns me off more than someone who is overweight.

I think you need to change your LS signature Lawmaker - seriously!

If you want to attract the skinny, 'hot' girls, you probably can, but you need to make some changes to yourself first. You CAN get rid of your beer belly, you CAN have muscular arms (anyone can if they learn how - even women if they take the right supplements).

Failure IS NOT an option. You can have what you want, you just have to want it enough!

I guess my edge is that I'm a musician.

My problem with that is that I have stage fright, and never perform anywhere except my living room. But my friends who have heard my demos have said that I need to get my ass out there. Even one music producer said he would sign me in a heartbeat.

You're absolutely right.

I just need to get my butt to the gym.

Then you need to do it. If you fail then you fail and you lose nothing but a little time out of your life...but what if you don't fail?

Logically? Aim for people like you.

This advice is useless, though, because attraction isn't very logical. You might as well aim for people you find attractive and hope to find one who feels the same way about you. There's no such thing as leagues.

Good point.

And I also wanted to say that my ideal body type is skinny. I don't like muscles, and don't want them. That might weird for a guy to say, but the only reason I would lift weights is to get girls - if I could get a girl as a skinny guy, then that would be just fine.

What I am self conscious about, though, is my beer belly. It puts a lot of weight on my back. I am not happy having it, and want it gone, so it's not like you guys aren't preaching to the choir!

I usually find a man who knows what he wants, regardless of his appearance, is attractive. I've come across guys like you many times. I'm not one of these skinny girls you talk about (I personally don't find skinny attractive, in fact, I find it nasty), but I am a goodlooking female and I have all shapes and sizes hit on me. To me, it's not so much to do with his looks as it is how he comes across in himself. If he believes he's goodlooking, it makes ME believe he's goodlooking. And those are the guys who get lucky.

I agree with this. Being confident goes a long way.

What you can try is long distance running with dumbbells in your hands. You burn away that belly and at the same time train your arms. Note though that during exercising your body doesn't only burn fat and releases water, you also burn muscle. What you can do to counter the loss of muscle tissue is to drink protein shakes(whey isolates), but make sure you buy a high quality one (like Gold Standard) and that you don't consume too much of it. (follow the instructions carefully, don't over-consume the stuff)

How much money do you make? That is a real game changer.

Girls will lift up your gut and blow you all day long for a pair of shoes.

While I don't wholeheartedly believe this statement, I do believe some soda made it onto my keyboard after reading it.

Ah yes, the eternal shoes debate. :p

I once went shopping with a girl. Every other stop she went in was a shoe store. At least it prepared me for what I'm going to have to deal with when I have a girlfriend!

A lot of those hot girls suffer the unattractive guys for the other benefits (money, protection, adoration, errand boy activities, etc.).

I have a very attractive friend who was with an average, overweight guy for years, and she says she was never very attracted to him. She stayed because they had so much in common otherwise, he was crazy about her, and he made life very easy on her.

But her lack of attraction was the root of why she pulled away from him and eventually left him.

Now, she exclusively dates men she finds very physically attractive, and says she'll never go back to an unattractive guy again.

I've gone backwards; I've had enough of goodlooking men. No offence to the goodlooking guys out there, but after a while the good looks (especially the ones who know they are) get tedious. The uglier/older ones are a LOT more appreciative and not only are they more reliable, more considerate, more gentle-manly, but they also provide an ego boost and shower compliments and flattery all the time. Ugly men all the way ;)

I have accepted that there are leagues, and I will never be good enough for the "hot girls." That being said, what looks range should I logically go for in women, since I'm not all that attractive looking?

Work on your confidence, get to the gym, learn proper seduction techniques. I've seen morbidly obese guys with hot girlfriends. Let THEM tell you they don't want you. You're counting yourself out by virtue of your low self-confidence.

I agree..we can all say leagues/looks mean nothing but usually if one person in the relationship is considerably better looking then the other somethings usually up..

I agree.

I would probably look at porn instead of having sex with a girlfriend, if I wasn't physically attracted to her.

So, in essence, why bother?

Because there's so much more to a relationship than just sex. And this is coming from someone who loves sex. The whole comfort/loyalty/spending time with each other are big factors.

Would you date you?

Knowing my heart and who I am, yes, I would.

Would girls date me? Probably not, because they don't bother looking past the wrapping to see what's inside.

Pull yourself together, man.

You know what women like? Men that like themselves and like them.

You know what men like? Women that like themselves and like them.

Seriously. Fat, thin, tall, short. If you like yourself - and you do - then that's 50% of the job done. The rest is turning up.

As for getting along with women you don't fancy but clamming up with women you do, you know what that is? It's called excitement. You see someone you like the look of? You talk to her, like the other women you like. Find out what makes her tick and decide if she's good enough for you. You show interest, you have laughs, you share, you connect. Then you say "yes" at the right moment. And if that moment doesn't occur, you leave a good impression, you move on.

You get to know more pretty girls and soon enough, you'll realise they're pissed off with having to filter out idiots from their lives and want someone they can eat Chinese on the sofa, play monopoly, go skinny dipping, who has other interests to talk about. You know, a friend. Who you have sex with.

If you're worried about sex, don't! It's messy and funny and most of the time more like ice skating with someone else who can't ice skate.

Get yourself a haircut, a new shirt, and a shave, post haste. You've been withholding your charm and wit from the eligible young ladies for far too long. Don't you think they've waited long enough?

Lawmaker, what advice would you give to a woman who posted on here who was in the same boat as you ie she has a good heart, not bad looking facially but very overweight and out of shape?

Would you suggest she aim to attract guys like you?

Would you date her?

Could you find her attractive regardless of her weight?

If you answer 'no' to any of the last three questions then you know what you need to do.

Betterdeal has suggested that you like yourself. I disagree. If you liked yourself, you would treat yourself with a little more kindness and respect.

Get your head sorted and get your body sorted - you don't have to turn into an Adonis, just start looking after yourself mentally and physically - and you'll soon find women of all shapes and sizes will be beating down your door.

*facepalm*

You're absolutely right. I could spend my time more wisely.

I will try to go to the Y tomorrow. At least get on the treadmill, if not start a weight lifting program.
