CurlyIam Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 I always forget to post the title - my last response is for Papillon
Papillon Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 No, Curly, you are misconstrueing my words - My question "So real love and affection is the preserve of only the wealthy?" was loaded with irony and not a little bit of sarcasm. What it costs is completely irrelevant, wealth is a relative term. I've stated it before so I'll state it again - it's NOT the PRICE or SIZE of the ring, but THE VARIABLE EMOTIONAL VALUE BEING ATTACHED to it BASED ON PRICE OR SIZE. Hence, for some, A BIGGER, MORE EXPENSIVE RING EQUALS BIGGER EMOTIONAL VALUE, and THAT is what I have a problem with - it's a narrowminded, artificial and materialistic viewpoint. I'm not saying we should alll show solidarity with all the poor people of the world, and buy teeny weeny rings. But the simple fact of the matter is that true love does not give a **** about a ring. It sure as hell does not. Come on, Curly, I hate having to repeat myself. Stop taking each of my sentences at face value and read everything holistically.
