aj22one Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 My family moved into our house about 12 years ago. Although most of the original people who lived on our street have moved away, handful of people remain, including the guy who lives right across the street from us. At first our relationship with him was relatively normal. We'd say hi, or exchange niceties, normal neighborly stuff although we weren't all best friends. Over the past two or three years though things have gotten bad. He routinely gets very drunk and stands out on his porch heckling anyone who comes by. Most of the time this happens at night (starting around 10 pm) but it has happened several times in broad daylight. And about half the time this heckling can turn outright belligerent. Last night my brother was literally scared for his life while taking the dog out for a walk...so much so that he took my father with him and went in and out of the house through the back door so as to not be noticed by our neighbor. Obviously this is borderline harassment, but unlike most cases in which I'd suggest getting a restraining order or something along those lines I really don't know what the best course of action is. Anyone have any ideas, or ever deal with something like this?
whichwayisup Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Go to your local police station and tell them the situation. Does this neighbour do stuff to everybody or just your family?
Ross MwcFan Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 He's just a drunk. Just laugh at him or ignore him, I doubt there's any reason to be scared.

Usually I'd be with you on that but he gets very heated. When my brother was coming home one night walking up the street to our house he intercepted my brother and started accusing him and our family of getting random people's cars towed, and that it was "bulls***". While walking the dog my brother heard the neighbor screaming "we're gonna get you and your little dog too". This is also the same guy who got arrested for beating his (now ex) wife. I'm not scared of him but I would really prefer not to get into a physical altercation and there really is no need for him to heckle people.
