Just tell your parents that you are exploring your options, that should get them off your back.

wilsonx Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Your parents are idiots, you will always come first. Even if you have a girlfriend, you should always come first. Not what your parents say, not what society says. If you are doing what makes you happy, and you are happy then why waste time getting a girlfriend. The very first girlfriend I EVER introduced to my parents was the one that broke up with me a month ago. Im 29 years old. Put up a boundary up on parents telling them "I will get a girlfriend, when I am ready" And leave it at that
eddysv Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I know Im not I am just frustrated. It's alright man...I have the same problem...every time I'm out with them and I look at a girl they always get on my case but I found that if I tell them I have a bunch of "girl" friends back at college that I'm just trying to get to know all of them first before I make a decision they start to get off my case... You've probably already tried it but if not...give it a go

Which it will anyway. I'm not sure what your relationship is like with your parents. Ask them nicely to stop pestering you about getting a gf because it makes you feel bad. Hopefully if they see it in that perspective, they'll understand where you're coming. Sometimes parents just worry too much. I think when they worry that's when they start getting pushy and they're not aware that it can hurt us or really frustrate us.
eddysv Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 How old are you? I'm a junior in college and 21...I made it seem like I go out with my parents a lot lol

eddysv Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 LOL so your a little older than me. Parents are acting like we are about to turn 40. haha exactly what I was thinking...and to make it worse for me..I have an uncle who hasn't gotten married yet...he is like 45 and they keep comparing me to him...it gets annoying... Tell your parents you are more focused on your school right now which will help you take care of them later on in life...that will get you some wiggle room...
