hello,

Thanks for reading...I just broke up with my girlfriend of 3 years...I am 41 and she was 10 years younger than me...We had talked about marriage and kids, etc. but it did not work out...she left me.

I look younger than I am and am in good shape, not a huge problem attracting women, but I feel so old and as I missed the boat, and my age will be a turn-off. I really would like to get married one day and thought I found the girl....I guess it was not to be...

I guess I am looking for some encouragement or some stories of older men finding love later in life...thanks for your replies....Heartbroken and my age doesn't help...thank you so much...

I know you asked for the male perspective, although I know a lot of single males past 50...some have never been married and some have been single for over 20 years and all of them have no kids.

My cousin was 42 before he started his family..he was an extremely eligible bachelor.

I'm not saying this is you...k...kind of if it fits go for it, exploring possible fears.

I have seen many men "want" and "communicate" the desire for a family, yet were commitment phobics. When it would come right down to it, something inside them would cause them to "flee" or make sure they "drove" away a potential mate. It's like when they would get close to the real deal, meaning the relationship either needed to end or go further, it would usually end.

Good luck!

My Uncle got is heart broke in his early twenties. Had nothing to do with women for the next 30 years. Worked hard, earn't money, played a lot of sport, travelled, enjoyed his life. One day he stayed late at work and for the first time met the office cleaning lady. Lovely girl, twenty years younger than him, and on a whim he asked her out for a drink. A year later, they were married, at the age of 54 he had his first kid, and earlier this year she gave birth to their 4th.

There's a man at my workplace who got married, for the first time, at age 50. His wife is a work friend of mine. She was 34 and it was her first marriage too. They met obviously at work. He's tall, fit, and doesn't look 50. He could pass for his early to mid 40s actually. He has a very boring personality, but then again he's an engineer. j/k

They seem happy together. They've been married for several years now. At the time he met her, he was living at home with his parents. That didn't bother her because she was living at home with her parents. They're both highly educated with two very good incomes.

A lot of women like older men.

At 40 a man knows who he is and what he wants, has more stability and emotional maturity and knows if he's ready to settle down.

There is nothing to hold you back.

I'm 28 and would not reject a man in his 40s because of age.

Cheers

For so many men, I don't think age has ever been a problem unlike women. Anyway, don't lose faith, love will find you.

You're a guy age won't be a problem with you in getting a partner.

You can date 16 - 45 year olds.

The only setback is playing the number games with rejection.
