sungirl Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I was wondering if anyone out there knows if you get extra financial compensation in a divorce if your husband has gone to escorts versus an affair. To me, this is life endangering and risky behaviour. By the way, I live in Canada and don't have a job, if that makes any difference. There are no children to support and no mortgage. Thanks
just_some_guy Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Where I live, no. Punitive measures are not part of a settlement. It is strictly community property and diso-master software formula sets the amount, if spousal support is indicated. Where you live, ask your attorney.
Tiberius Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 "No fault" works both ways. "To me" is not a legal thing either.
carhill Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 If you are employable that may have a bearing on allowable support/property settlement. H seeing one-legged hookers not so much. In this equal opportunity world, the one who cares less isn't necessarily the one who pays more. Often, quite the opposite. Since you're not currently employed, hire the best attorney your H's money can afford
Afishwithabike Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I'm not an attorney in Canada, but my recollection is Canada has no fault for divorces, but please consult with a good family law attorney there. I remember your story. I've wondered what happened since then. If you don't mind me asking, are you thinking of filing for divorce (not that I blame you for doing so)?
