A couple years ago I had a hysterectomy when I was 23. I have one daughter. The reason for the surgery was because I was bleeding and in pain all the time. Well, the other day my 20 year old cousin announced she's pregnant.

I am feeling kind of jealous. The doctor said it was to be expected.

What can I do to help my situation?

Look at your own daughter and realize that your cousin is now getting to experience the same joys you've had with your own child. Try your best to focus on the fact that there are many couples who don't even get to experience having one child.

I'm going to assume you also had an oophorectomy to remove your ovaries when you had your hysterectomy. But if not, that still leaves potential for having a child later on down the road - of course, it will involve a surrogate and more money.

But the best way for you to get over it? Stride up to your cousin and congratulate her on her pregnancy. Try to keep your focus on her upcoming joy and the joy you already have, rather than the kids you won't have.
