Timbo Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 I'm glad I found this thread. The way I met my wife is actually kinda funny and telling this story warms my heart a little. I asked a girl that I was working with (I am was 20, she was 18) out years ago. She agreed to seeing a movie and going out for dinner. She thought I was the nicest guy ever, but wasn't interested in me (she had a bf, but didn't tell me...you will see why in a moment).. The night of the date, I had just gotten out of the bathroom from changing (she met me back at work), and she had her friend with her. What a surprise. (See where this is going yet?...) Well, I thought her friend was incredibly cute and I was feeling really anxious about the situation because I didn't want to be caught drooling over this girl's friend infront of her! I did it anyway, though. I felt bad until I was let in on the "secret". You females can surely be sneaky sometimes. Now, years later, that girl's friend is my wife and we have a 6 year old son together. It's a shame we are probably going to be divorcing soon. It was a good story, though, yes? Tim

The other guy was supposed to be only a friend - he had never given me any clues he was interested in me - but it turned out he had a crush on me when he realized I was *very* attracted to my soon-to-be-boyfriend and he started crying... I felt *horrible*. Spent the whole following morning hanging out with him, telling him I was sorry about what happened and that I really liked him as a friend, I cared about him, BUT [insert any polite I-am-not-interested-in-you explanations here]. Gave him a few kisses on lips (which I regret, feeling guilty is not a good reason to kiss someone you are not interested in).

HokeyReligions Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 There have been other posts like this---- I was in college (the 2nd time) and working part-time interviewing people for a research company (one of those folks you see in a mall walking around with a clip-board and asking people questions) I was working in the office one day and our screener brought a guy back to do a survey. I surveyed him on answering machines (this was when they cost hundreds of dollars and most people did not have one) and anyway, I interviewed him, we flirted, he asked me to have coffee after work (we went to Dennys) and sat there for hours just talking. I knew that night that if I ever did get married, he would be the one. We dated for two years first though. That was a great job for meeting people and dating!!

That's what's going on when I'm too busy drinking beer!

I was the first patient in the unit to greet her. We somehow never managed to lose touch. We always liked one another, but never had a way to actually physically see one another again until two months ago.

One of the interview questions was if I was married or had a bf, I answered no and was told good b/c this wasn't the place for a woman with a jealous husband. Anyway the boss sent me out with a really cute guy for a road test and when we came back I was told that I was hired but I had to go on the road for 2 weeks training with this really cute guy. No problem, being confined to a 4x6 area with a gorgous blond with a cute accent for 2 weeks. Well needless to say we hit it off and became an item. We found out a couple of months later that it was a set up b/c everyone was tired of seeing my bf sad and depressed b/c his wife left him for another man. Just so happen that I was at the right place at the right time.
Fraggles Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 My SO was a long-time friend of my cousin. He set us up on a blind date. My SO met my mother and daughter before I met him. My Mom actually told him I was single and was a nice girl! (AHHH how embarassing!) We have been married now 11 1/2 yrs.
katy_katt Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I met my bf at a bar, honestly the last place I expected to meet someone, about a day after I decided I wasn't going to date anymore. I went there with a friend and her bf, but they had just started dating and seemed really wrapped up in each other. I decided to leave them alone, went off and danced by myself for a while. I had my eyes closed and when I opened them, he was dancing right in front of me, smiling at me! I had to admit, I was a little creeped out at first but I gave him my # anyway, more out of curiousity then anything...but he ended up calling me for dinner and things are great!
pav186 Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I met a few girls early in the school year and one of these girls had a roommate who said we'd be perfect together. i didnt bother trying to meet the girl for a no real reason but wasnt looking for anything serious, but one night i went out with a friend to a few bars and met up with the group of girls. i was attracted to her right away and kinda shy. Well the next night i was having a party in my apartment the next night and invited her over and we hit it off from there. it was just 6 months last weekend.
