Generally speaking, dating sites are like the menu at a fast food joint: over-priced items that never look like the picture once you get them, filling and satisfying only in the short-term, and would make you puke if you ever knew what really went in them.

Thoughts??:p

I disagree.... I think of dating sites as a virtual bar. At a bar you see someone you like you possibly strike up a convo and if you hit it off great maybe you will exchange numbers. Online dating is just like a bar only it is virtual. You see someone you like you message them strike up a convo and if you hit it off maybe you will exchange numbers.

My BF is way hotter than his picture (and I thought he was smokin when I found his profile.) He's also super genuine, caring, nice, thoughtful, etc. I think he's a great catch and he was online.

For me online dating is a thousand piece puzzle that my piece cannot fit into. It's a smorgasbord of 2-d avatars, and people behind them that appear to have just as much depth.

The in-person way of meeting people is so much better :)

Quick and easy way to see who purportedly single and available in the local area. Since I tend to only meet married and attached women IRL, it's been a good alternative.

I don't have a good food analogy. The closest I can come is a sushi dispenser at the Shinkansen station in Osaka. Can't read a spit of Japanese, so I look at the pictures and push the button. ;)

Online dating is a game that I can't learn how to play. Either I lack the looks, or the profile writing skills, to play that game.

Occassionaly you might meet a rare beef fillet steak, but mainly you get a burger past it's sell by date!

It's a great way to meet men I might not ordinarily meet. Not talking about celebs, which I see frequently where I live and work. Normal, nice British men.

Apparently you never came across my profile :p. lol.

I agree with motive though, real life is a lot easier to meet someone and establish a strong connection then what a picture and a couple words can do online.

Yes, this (only "women" in my case).

Solyndra.. STOLE.. 535.. MILLION dollars with BARACKS help..? I am guessing you were trying to say something along those lines, but failed at spelling every other word..

So are you saying dating sites are like our government? The site is full of lies, deceit, betrayal, and corruption. :) Thank you Barack!

I don't live in the UK now but I want to. Almost did until it all went pear shaped. I just don't fancy American men. Love an English or Scottish accent. I'll be back on a dating website in a month or two and will disappear from here. I dread writing my profile -- too much like writing a college term paper. I always waited until the last minute then and the same holds true now.

Ditto! What I used to do was find a cute girl, check out her profile and then base mine accordingly. Terrible right?
