I'm selling my truck because I can't afford the gas. I bought new tires a year ago for $600.

I am moved out of my mom's, and we don't have the best relationship right now. . . she hates the boyfriend.

Anyway, she said I should trade her tires before I sell my truck, but I feel like I could get more money out of it if I sold the tires with it.

I am a very submissive person, especially to my mom.

So...how can I tell her no when sh wants to debate it and will think I'm a horrible daughter who doesn't care about her family if I don't give them to her...or are tires really not that important to someone buying a car???

Personally, I wouldn't bother unless the asking price for your car is very low, like under 2-2.5K. Regardless, good rubber will sell a car; if mom's tires are 40-50%, and she doesn't mind spending the money to remount yours (presuming the wheels don't interchange, which is unlikely), the swap might be worth considering, assuming you normally would help out family.

On a low end car/truck, the new tires won't add their cost to the average price. As the price of the car/truck rises, so does the recovery value of the tires.

All of this presumes the tires on your truck will fit her vehicle. If they don't, then the dynamic is moot and you have an easy 'excuse'.

Can't help you with the family dynamic. Standing up to parents is part of becoming an adult. I call it a loving boundary. Hope you can work that out.

Good tires make it more sell-able & will get you a better price.

It sounds like your issues with mom run much deeper than a set of tires.
