I'm struggling to see a purpose to my life.

I'm 20. I'm an abject failure in everything I have ever done. I am incapable of cultivating a healthy relationship and meeting new people. That's my life in a nutshell.

You may read this and think '20 is young, it's silly to complain at that age'. The thing is though, my life is already in an unhealthy cycle, and it's been that way for 3 years. In that time, I've been working a full time job, and every year, the cycle repeats itself. My life isn't changing, or improving. It's stuck in this circle.

I've tried things. I'm out of ideas now.

...20 years old is ridiculously young to feel like an abject failure at anything! Good grief, you've only just begun! I guess I have know a couple of people who had their lives together at that age...some really annoying, perfectly perfect people...but they are the exception to the rule. Most of us are lucky to even remember our early twenties, let alone escape that period of life unscathed by some major, catastrophic screw ups.

It sounds to me as though you feel aimless or without purpose. Life does feel very pointless without a cause to serve and/or goal to work toward. If you have enough resources to be able to post a thread in an online forum (and evidently, you do), then there are vast numbers of people in this world (and probably outside your own back door) who are far less fortunate than you. Find a way to be of service to someone in need. Then, go hang out with your friends and have fun. :p Good luck to you!

What does this "unhealthy cycle" consist of? What things have you tried and what were the results?

What have you tried, and why didn't it work?
