I'm thinking of making a career change and plan to take a 12 week class to get my pharmacy tech license. I know I'll never get rich doing this, but I am already a med tech in a home for people w disabilities and I think I would working behind the counter of a retail pharmacy or hospital.

I'd like to know if any of you pharmacy techs enjoy your jobs and what a typical salary is. I've heard that salaries range from $11-$15 an hour.

I am trying to save the money for my pharmacy tech class and before I invest $$ into a class, I want to know if the people in this field feel that it is worthwhile. Like I said, I currently have a job, but due to budget cuts, I am spread so thin that each day I worry that I'm going to make a crucial mistake and end up without a job. I think having a pharm tech license would give me an extra advantage in this tough economy.
