Nohbody Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I'm an atheist, but I honestly believe that the best description of ideal love can be found in the bible. Is it possible? Probably not, but I'd like to share anyway. This is from 1 Corinthians 13: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.
Ghosst Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) I am athiest as well. It is a great passage from the bible. Many common sense things are in the bible that have shaped our society. Its a shame that there is so much controversy over those religous icons who have flaunted their beliefs. As far as I am concerned it is simply a book as any other. Is it overly ideal, I don't think so. It can be something a person strives for. Maybe we can't be that all of the time, but we can try Edited June 3, 2011 by Ghosst
