KR10N Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Are there benefits to writing poetry? I never really wrote poetry unless I had to (ie. school). But, I was just wondering if it helps to get things that have bothered you off your chest? Occasionally, when I have a problem, random words & thoughts will jumble massively in my head & come together almost poetically. I'm actually in the process of writing one now.
tman666 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I think it can help a person sort through issues. I've written poetry/journal entries in the past in order to help myself sort through my thoughts. Even though I make a horrible poet, I think the process, rather than the end result, is what is ultimately helpful and/or therapeutic. If you feel comfortable doing so, you should post your poetry!
627 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I have a friend that writes poetry, and she used to tag me in them on facebook along with several of her friends... I never understood anything too much metaphores and stuff and never knew what to say anyway I personnaly write notes, long clear bashing notes on what bugs me, but I never publish them, several times I almost did but I thought some of these things could make me seem like a negative person or might cost me friends... but it helps when you organize your thoughts and write them out, you yourself would be able to see them clearer I guess any form of releasing internal thoughts into something physical would help
Author KR10N Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 lol. Well, my current writing is 6 stanzas, so far. If I feel confident enough I'll share it.
