Me and my ex have had a relationship one would describe as one with really good moments and really bad ones at that. Recently he broke up with me up b/c we were both stressing each other out and hadn't contacted me up until 1 am last night.

I had tried messaging him and calling him to talk things out and stopped 5 days ago.

This is the email I got from him at 1 am (Mind you he has to be up by 7 am), " I love you alot and I just don't want to hurt you anymore."

That might seem final, but perhaps I feel he is too proud to apologize and its his way for re-establishing communications?

Anyways I am usually the pushover and our relationship fails b/c I often fail to have a backbone.

If I want to go about things the right way, what is the best way to go about things with this email?

A- I ignore it

B- I respond nonchalantly and reply 2 words, 'I understand' or 'Ok'

C- I tell him I miss him and I want to fix things

I want to avoid C honestly b/c I've tried fixing things a million times. I want him to try and fix things for a change.

im tired of bending over backwards and being the doormat in the relationship.

How can i change the dynamics of this relationship?

A or B since you really want to avoid C

A would be the easiest as it requires no input or effort of replying. Just move on.

As for what it means when a guy messages you that at 1 am if C truly doesn't matter to you knowing the answer to this also doesn't matter to you so just move along.
