So i met this chick Angela last week. She's 26, i'm 46. She's well educated with a good job at GM. She like to travel and is in great shape. She's one of those attractive book-worm types and has long blonde hair.

So what are people in their 20's into these days? I need some material that i can introduce into conversatioin to make me look more hip than i already am.

Should i read up on Lady Gaga or something??

Very sad !

Play to your strengths as an older, more experienced man when dating younger women rather than trying to be hip. Expect her to rise to your level, she will want you more for it.

Posted
yea that sounds good. usually the youngest i go is 10 yrs so this is sort of new territory

Yeah Dood, shes looking to learn from YOU. She wants to be in your world and see what you can teach her. Im sure you already know how to be classy, and fun at the same time. Classy is treating her like a lady, and fun is knowing the smart phone and reality shows. I know you got all this covered. So you just be fun, dont talk down to her, and show her the world from your eyes. Just because she has an MBA doesnt mean she knows anything, it just means that she can study real well. But her ambition is telling, work off that.

Matter of fact, your taste in older music might be something she would want to join in, if she assumes you listen to 80's or 70's classic rock, yknow? Theres a reason she wants an older guy, you just have to find out what it is.

Just chiming in with the other posters. I agree that there's no need to read up on all the "hip stuff" (i.e. Lady Gaga, etc.). If she's a mature 26 years, it won't be necessary.

Speaking as a 23-year-old, I'd find it patronizing and a little bit silly if I went on a date with an older man and he started asking me about the latest episode of Jersey Shore. Not all 20-somethings are media-obsessed tabloid slaves, and it's possible that those electing to date an older man are doing so because they're sick of discussing the same garbage with peers their own age.

Haha, I'm 26, and most of my friends are early-twenties to early-thirties. I've never had a conversation about Jersey Shore (except that it sucks and I don't watch it) or Lady Gaga (well, I guess I talked about some of her songs as they were performed on GLEE with my middle schoolers).

My favorite band is the Beatles. And my favorite movies are old movies. I'd find it very strange if someone were trying to leaf through some pop magazine or something to "relate" to me. I don't date older men, but it has nothing to do with "interests." Except for when you're a kid or very old, I don't think interests are all that determined by age.

The common issues with age become life experience and the like. Which isn't something you "brush up on" and which she's probably not worried about if she's agreed to go out with you.

Yep, I'm quite similar to you, and I think the OP's misconception about 20-somethings is a common one. So I'm glad we can set the record straight. ;)

It's almost like he was trying to get Alpha to throw the date

I think Alpha will know what to do...

Don't brush up on ****.

You don't want to have someone fall for someone you are not.

She knows your age, I am pretty sure she doesn't want to discuss reality t.v or MTV or whatever the kids are doing these, lol.

Just be yourself.

Please don't use slang, show up to the date with a bedazzled shirt on and please use whole words when texting.

A little Just for Men hair color might be a good idea. And be sure to hold in your gut whenever you think she might be looking at you. Also learn some of the latest slang and use it as much as possible. Talk about college and how you hate your history professor with a passion. When you text her use "u" instead of "you", and stuff like that.

That's the best advice I can offer, Alpha. The rest is on you. Even if you don't get the details right, I'm sure she'll appreciate that you're making an effort for her.

:lmao: haha!!

Alpha, women at 26 are pretty mature for the most part.

Don't forget your little blue pill though...;)
