planisphaerium Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 So hello there, my name is Clint, and im new to these forums. i have a question, maybe im over thinking this.. I just recently broke up with my girlfriend of 3 years, and i decided to meet new people, so i made an account on plenty of fish. So far so good i guess, besides the fact that i hardly get replies... Anyhow, i messaged this girl, who is super cute and shares alot of the same interests as me, she replied. We kinda hit it off etc, so i go to ask for her phone number. No phone. Okay, not that uncommon, whatever, we chat a bit more, then i ask for her facebook to see more photos. No facebook, Weird. And i think she lied when she told me her name. Phoenix cant be a real name...Can it??? despite all that im totally captivated, shes super cute and we have a lot in common, i asked her to let me know if she was free this weekend and she replied with: ''oh for sure i will! saying that shes excited to meet me etc. Now is this weird, or somewhat normal? is this some dude trolling me? Advice!!
ls32ssibm Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 If your serious about a relationship stay off the Deadpond, Plenty of Kids, etc etc. Free sites tend to be sketchy. Try Match or something.
robdrm32 Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 no phone? yet she has access to a computer. possible not probable. no facebook? possible and probable, some people (like me) don't have a facebook but it always suprises me when another person says they don't have one. don't know the whole story but you may have come on too strong and she isn't that interested YET. She knows whether or not she is free this weekend, it's just a matter of her making herself free for you. keep contact but don't get your hopes up, take it slow
Author planisphaerium Posted May 30, 2011 Author Posted May 30, 2011 well she had mentioned that i was one of the only people on there that she actually reads and responds too, and she said i better get used to recieving messages from her, so i in turn said 'im thinking maybe we should talk in person' she said yes and whatnot, and how she'd like to meet me etc. and that i was cute. and just generally really playful with me i dont think i came off too strong, ive been messaging her for almost a week, i mean were we going to chat on pof forever? and i thought things had kind of fizzled out between us, cause she took a few days to respond, but she fished through her massive amount of messages to reply back to me, gotta count as something right?
robdrm32 Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 dude i talked to a girl for a month straight everyday messaging on a dating site, got good vibes, thought it was going good. and when i asked for her # she said no that would be creepy. If she wants to meet you she will. set a date and ask, if she says no then move on.
Author planisphaerium Posted May 30, 2011 Author Posted May 30, 2011 Wait a minute, set a date and ask? So simple yet so complex, i shall do that. i suppose ill find out if shes really trolling me over coffee or whatever
oaks Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Not everyone uses Facebook (!) and not everyone wants to add people they haven't met yet, so don't worry about that any further. Nothing wrong with being called Phoenix. Not having a phone seems more strange. Not sure what you should do about that. Some people have a 'rule' that they won't go on a first date unless they've spoken on the phone first, but you'll have to decide how much like a blind date you want it to be. Also, assuming a first date goes well, can you really build a relationship with someone who you can't talk to on the phone? I think you're right to be concerned.

Well she did tell me that she just moved from san fran, so my only assumptions are that: she had one and axed it cause of the move or that shes too young. Shes 18, me being 20. my buddy got his first phone last year, he was 21. so i guess its possible. when i did ask her about the phone thing, she replied with ''maybe i should get one so i can text you''
