I would but that wouldn't be enough to live.

For example, i saw this website that tells the living wage for every city in USA. It said my city is 12.51 or something. And 8 or 9/hr is considered poverty.

So should i aim for 12/hr jobs or higher.. Or should i just accept anything?

If i accept anything that is low pay i probably can't even live on my own nor rent a room.

Many jobs are 10/hr even if they're are basic general office jobs. But then it depends on the company. Receptionists at clinics or hospitals can get 14 or 15/hr. But receptionist for other small companies can be 10/11/12.. which is kinda weird but well.

where are you living now?

with the way the economy is it seems very difficult to find a job that pays well unless you have some experience or you know people in high places.

I think 10 is doable, but you would have to do some major budgeting.

Does it really matter what a website says ?

Isn't what is happening in your real life what is important ?

You take a job to pay your bills.. if you can't then you get 2 jobs or cut back...

Of course you shoot high.. but if times are tough why would you pass up a job ?

Even having a smaller wage job can be good for you.. it gets you out there, talking with people rather than sitting on your sofa.

Sitting on a sofa collecting unemployment isn't all that great of a self esteem booster.. getting any job will help boost your self esteem and in the mean time you keep looking for a better job.

Sounds great. Now you gave me some inspiration. I was thinking 10/hr jobs would not be good for me, but now i Will aim for those too.!!

Forget what any website claims. Do the math yourself.

Any $10/hr fulltime job will conservatively equate to approximately $1400 - $1600/month. This is calculated by lowballing the number of working days in a month to 20 days and using the figures of a 7, 7.5 or 8 hours paid work day.

Not included in the calculation are benefits like medical, dental and other benefits which can rack up to quite a bit, if paid out of your own pocket.

Don't forget that in times of need, you can also find roommates to offset costs.
