sanlucascerveza Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Me and my girlfriend live about an hr apart so we only see eahother during the weekends due to work, personal lives etc. I'm starting to wonder if this is going to sour the relationship. We talk via txt mostly during the week but when were with eachother it's amazing. I am concerned this lack of face time will lead to infidelity, cheating on one side. What's the best way to go about this? Am I overthinking this and being too needy?
atmosphere Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I had the same issue with my boyfriend at about the 3 month mark and was seriously considering breaking up with him because of the lack of contact. I spoke to him and told him my concerns and it's changed big time. He hates the phone so we don't really speak on the phone unless we need to but we text a lot and now see each other in the week as well. I'm learning with him that communication is so important in relationships. If you have an issue, you need to be able to speak to your girl about it. There's no point whining to the world and if she can't handle what she's saying then she's really not the right girl fo ryou.
marigold7 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I agree with Atmosphere that communication is critical in relationships; if the other person isn't going to communicate, it's not going to be a productive relationship. However, my boyfriend and I also live about an hour apart so we only see each other about once every two weeks. we've been going out for 6 months. It's hard, but if you love each other, you get through it. And honestly, I'm almost 100% sure he hasn't cheated on me. (and I haven't cheated on him.) I do understand how you might think that's possible though. How long have you two been going out? In the beginning it's pretty important to meet regularly in person so you actually get to know the person. you might want to actually speak on the phone some. GL.
