I have been avoiding my FB page because I know a reunion is coming up.

I had an awful time and looked terrible throughout my statutory schooling days. So, what? do I go to this reunion thing for people to tell me I look good now? That is offensive in many respects as I don't need their praise. I don't even need their apologies... we were children back then.

I can think off a couple of teachers that I respected... wouldn't mind seeing them. There are quite a few who I HATED though. I don't do hate nowadays.. I even hated the building, lol!

Did you go to a reunion? Was it a good experience?

Should I go to mine? Ok, there are a couple of people who I did like who are on my FB page who I don't even speak to due to them reminding me off the past. I am polite to them but I feel really embarrassed about my past.

I am thinking that I should just delete them and forget all about those days..

Take care,

I didn't have a terrible time in high school, college or law school, but I didn't go to any of the reunions. I wasn't interested and I've moved on in life to a point I don't really care to find out where those people are in their lives. I haven't kept in touch with my high school friends and the best friend I had in college is now married to me. I keep in touch with a few law school friends on my own. There's no reason you have to go to any reunion if you don't want to. You can see the teachers you liked on your own. I did that. I visited two of my high school teachers after school when I knew they would still be in the classroom. It was a far better visit than during a busy, crowded reunion event.

Thanks for this.

I could go to see the Teachers I liked without the surrounding drama. I like that idea! It is simple and brings to the forefront that I don't really even want to do that. I think they knew back then.

Still, I will think about this further. I do feel it is important to deal with these matters thoroughly.

I don't want to go and tell people I did not like about my family, my lovely home and my life. It seems so wrong.

Glad things worked out for you with University and everything. Well done you! Lovely to hear.

Take care,

I went to a secondary school reunion (but just for my class, not the whole school) a few years back. I didn't have a particularly great time in that class and there really were no one there that I weren't in contact with already (one and a half person) that I had a special wish to see again. I definitely had mixed feelings about going. However, it ended up being a really nice evening. Everyone had 'grown up' and people just genuinely enjoyed seeing each other again and catching up and just relaxing over some food and drinks.

I went to one a while back, kind of wish I hadn't though. People change so much, and I prefered the memories I had of them as kids, rather than knowing what they turned into. Bunch of world-beaters back then. Bunch of podgy, balding, decidedly average, middle aged farts now. Beaten down by life, quit on their dreams and ready for their pipe and slippers. Much prefered not knowing.

H'mmm, yes.. half the people who I have looked at via FB have not even moved out of the area. Bloody awful place too. Plus the then 'in crowd' ALL now look very terrible indeed, like half dead. It's all pretty shocking stuff really. Back then I was the loser to them but I knew that I was no such thing. I was just very messed up.

I have no desire to go back. I am ok with this now.

Anyhow, I probably won't even be asked.

:o

I think being asked could put me into turmoil and I feel better prepared for this now. There is nothing on my FB page that would suggest that my lifestyle is anything too special so I may get over looked. That woud have been the fickle criteria for an invite back in the day anyway...

Glad that it worked out for you! I don't think it is an easy decision to go through with.
