Pianiste Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Zucchini. It started out as a bit of a joke because I love everything that has zucchini in it! But by now we've both grown attached to the name. None of my boyfriends ever really used the "standard" repertoire for choosing a nickname they'd use for a longer period of time but I've had a ton of silly other names: Grape, Cocoon (which then became Coco) and Bichito. The list goes on but you get the picture. ;-)

I told him it annoyed me when he put a pet name into text speak (and legally, QT has a specific meaning to me). He jokingly asked if lamp chop would be better and used that for a little while. Now it's just babe or cutie. I call him his full first name or add a "y" at the end of his shortened version. For example, Matthew or Matty.

I also never use pet names for friends only. So far I have used "sweetie." That's about it for now. He has used "gf" and "sweetie" a few times. One pet name I will never, ever, ever, ever use for anyone is "hun." Ugh. If I say "hun" it's probably because I'm getting ready to start an argument with someone (which is rare).

It takes some time to develop, but the thought of repeating a cutsie little names really bothers me. Over the years mine have varied but most guys stick with the standard list. I've been sweetie, honey, babe, snugglebunny, etc. The current BF calls me "My baby" or "my love."
