stace79 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Yes, I know a majority of LSers think I should go NC with my on/off bf, but please consider this scenario. He is in sports radio, and his co-host today posed an "over/under" whether he could get three girls to kiss him for his birthday (today). He accepted the challenge and then posted to his Twitter account: "cohost issued a show challenge of 3 birthday "cheek" kisses today. Headed to town this afternoon to find my three unlucky victims" Am I completely irrational to be upset about this? Granted, we are not officially together, but he has promised that we are exclusive and that he isn't seeing other girls romantically.
ASG Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Yes, you are irrational, because 1) you're not officialy together, 2) it's a work thing and 3) they're cheek kisses!!! What exactly is there to make you upset?!?! 1
Author stace79 Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 Since we've been trying to sort things out and we are not seeing anybody else, is it so wrong that I don't want other girls to kiss him besides me? Whether or not I was wrong, it hurts to think of that.
ASG Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 They're not kissing him! Not really! Where I'm from people say hi with 2 kisses, one on each cheek, or, where I live, a hug and a kiss. How is what he is doing any different from him saying hello to anyone he knows? And it's a WORK thing. If he was an actor... How would you be able to cope?! Work is work and has nothing to do with how he feels and he is NOT kissing anyone else. And those girls are just having an opportunity to be close to a local celebrity! Don't be paranoid about it. It's unattractive and this kind of jealousy will most likely drive people away! 1
Author stace79 Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 I wouldn't date an actor. In the U.S., kissing is not a sign of greeting. If I were French, maybe I'd feel differently. It's one thing for people he sees normally to offer a kiss on the cheek or a hug, but that he goes out seeking girls to kiss him rubs me the wrong way. If it was my birthday (or any other day for that matter), the only person I want kissing me is him!

It's something public that's devised to get more ratings. It's not necessarily that he wants other girls kissing him. It's a work thing.
Lucky_One Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I would say it is a good thing that you are not a couple, because when you are involved with a celebrity (from a small-town local DJ on up to Brad Pitt), there are going to be times when you will be hugged or kissed (or hugging or kissing) your fans or strangers. Yahoo home page had a great article about a pro football rookie, J. T. Thomas taking an 8th grader, Joslyn Levell, to her school prom. I would put money on it that he gave her a wonderful big kiss on the cheek, and I would put even more serious money on it that the female teachers/parents/chaperones at that dance gave him more than cheek kisses (or tried to).
Author stace79 Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 Well, even though there are only two responders, you've both said I'm in the wrong so it's something to work on for the future. I think the challenge is that he and I have so much history, and we're in this state of limbo right now that makes me very insecure. Thank you for the insights though. If anybody else wants to weigh in, please do.
