captured_butterfly Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Ok long story short, was with my ex bf for 7.5 yrs we got together at 17 and im now 24, broke up nearly 2 months ago. He was the only guy ive ever been with and the only guy thats ever showed me any attention, so needless to say im absolutely bricking it trying to get into this whole dating scene :-( Where do i start?? I really dont have many friends and feel sad hanging out with my brothers even though i love hanging out with them, i just worry about what other people think toooo much. I have social anxiety which REALLY doesnt help me much :-( I worry i wont find anyone because i dont feel like im pretty enough, or good enough (think this is due to the fact my ex cheated on me and made me feel crap constantly breaking up with me and wanting me back) Just stressing out about this, im trying not too and just thinkin whatever will be will be but just find this whole thing VERY daunting :-( Any advice on this whole thing???? x
carhill Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 IMO, the first part of moving on is to make some female friends; peers you can give and take with and give to and receive support from. This will not only assist you in your recovery from this R but continue to be an asset in your life. You now have the freedom to discover and pursue your path, unfettered by the path of another. This is a real gift at your young age. That, combined with the lessons you've learned from this relationship, will serve you well in life. Good luck
Author captured_butterfly Posted May 21, 2011 Author Posted May 21, 2011 Thanx Carhill :-) Im trying to make new friends, im currrently looking at college courses with a couple of work colleagues, just something fun to do and that will help me meet new people. I get really stuck at conversation though, i find it hard to talk to people :-( Thanx you for the kind words :-) x
