Right, women love men with a sense of humor. ;-) I mean, it does make sense. The next excuse in line is, "I'm 'talking/seeing' to this guy right now, so I'm seeing how this goes." In my case, though, the woman gave me "I'm seeing someone right now, I'm seeing how that goes", and about a couple of months later, I would see them online, and actually shoot off an email following up. I had a follow-up that actually wound up getting me a date though, guess she wasn't using it as a line....so, you never know. ;-)

If you get this excuse you could just get straight to the point and ask her if she wants to have an affair. You: "Hi, this is irc333 and I was just contacting you to follow-up on your previous flakey @$$ response. It specifically states in my profile that "I'm no quitter." Her: "I like you, kid. You got heart. Take, me, big boy!"

I think several books and online dating advice articles have said that some women use, conciously, or unconciously lines like that as a way to test a man. Lets face it any and every woman (and man) is going to have options at all times. They may not know they have options but they do. It behooves us all to find mates who can deal with a little competition. One way or the other. That said, I don't think it's a line. As one Eharmony advice article I read said many many women "fall in love" with the first man they have a decent date with and shut out all other guys very quickly.
