So my ex girlfriend contacted my best friends girlfriend today to go out to lunch. We broke up about 2.5 months ago and we have talked a little bit during this time and grabbed some food about a week and a half ago. We dated for 3.5 years, not a nasty break-up, she said she wasn't happy, didn't want a relationship now, didn't really know what she wanted etc.. Honestly I still miss her and want things to work out. The thing is that her and my friends gf were never really "friends". The only time they hung out is when the four of us hung out together during our relationship and now she wants to go to lunch with her? So my question is, does this mean anything? Do you guys think my ex is trying to worm her way back into my crowd of people and get back with me or what? It's just weird because they we never close before, and obviously my friends girlfriend is one of MY best friends..not hers.

I suspect that you may be reading too much into it because you're framing your ex's behaviour in the context of you wanting "things to work out."

It may be perfectly innocent and nothing to do with you. She could just be trying to extend her circle of friends and the other girl being in your crowd is a mere triviality.
