I'm very musical. always humming. I hum more than i talk. It's my life.

I have an online friend and she likes listening to my humming cause i can do many songs. and i'm good at it.

Even when i'm in public , at work, taking my break outside etc.. I hum and while doing it I move my head feeling the rhythm.

What do most women think of a guy who doens't talk much and doesn't express himself in talking BUT is very expressive in his music and is not afraid to feel the rhthm anywhere( while many others go outside and would be embarrased to hum and feel the rhythm).

I hear Women like men who are confident. Ok then, I'm confident at least in some aspect of my life, in fact in something that talkative confident guys would not even be confident.

lol. An old friend hums & whistles tunes all the time, & happens to sing very well. So yes, it's attractive.

Everyone is different but for me, humming and whistling drives me nuts. Goes back to when I was a kid and my Mom would do this mix between singing and humming and it wasn't loud but just loud (or quiet) enough to be annoying. Maybe I'm weird though LOL......other things that drive me nuts that probably don't both other people are when people clip their fingernails in public, snap their gum, chew gum or food like a horse, breathe really loud. Okay I'm weird :-)

I'd like to know.

Women are genetically predisposed to have the dance fetish but tend to be terrible singers (there are a few exceptions), while few men like to dance but can sing pretty well unless they're tone deaf.

I have a deep base singing voice not unlike Larry Hooper from the old Lawrence Welk shows, and I have good pitch... but unfortunately we have the late Michael Jackson to thank for making base singers unfashionable and hated.

IME however, mothers are GREAT yodelers.

Well if you're weird then I am too. I'm not a fan of people humming or whistling constantly. That said, there were some builders near my work who often broke out into song. One would go crazy with it and start singing in a silly high pitched voice. That didn't annoy me, because

1. He sounded too happy to be annoying

2. It made me laugh

3. He was a cutie.

Somebody like that gets a pass to clip their nails noisily...and they can probably even slurp their soup without driving me to distraction. Everybody else gets an invisible gun pointed at them.

Re musical...to me that means the ability to play an instrument without being taught. Natural ear for music, natural feel for musical instruments. Or else being a talented singer.

It's your life? That seems a bit drastic. So do you hum or sing your responses when you're having a conversation with somebody?

I'm exactly the same way. Even walking in a store near someone that is humming will drive me nuts.

I know a few guys like this.

Yes, if someone is funny while doing something like this, like the construction worker you referred to (bonus points for cuteness lol), that's different.......but then to me it's not annoying in this case because they're trying to be funny and entertaining and they're succeeding.

But then on the other hand, there are the American Idol Wannabes who drive me up the wall. For example, the other morning I was in our cafeteria at work and one of the short order cooks was cooking up breakfasts on the grill and he was singing like he was trying out for American Idol and it was bizarre and I felt embarrassed for him, he was trying to hard....as he stood there flipping the eggs :-) Almost being a show-off about his (at least in his mind) stellar singing abilities. I had to turn away to hide the smirk. I feel the same way when watching singing shows like American Idol.......even if they sing good, it stills seems so corny to me, standing there on stage trying to be the next big star.......but that's just me. Wannabes in general make me laugh and feel sorry for them.......I guess that's because I don't like to follow the crowd or the trends, I revel in being my own unique person and I've never really bought into the sheep-mentality. But that's another post :-)

I had a boyfriend who was a diabolical singer. I'm not a good singer either by any stretch, but I know to keep my gob shut. I can play the piano, so that's my contribution musically. This boyfriend, though, he couldn't play an instrument to sing his life and he couldn't sing...but it didn't stop him trying to do both.

He'd sit down next to me and pick up the guitar. My heart would start to pound. He'd play some bum notes for a minute or so and I'd start to think that maybe this time it would be okay...ie he might not break out into song. Then he'd take a deep breath, and I could literally feel the panic setting in. His voice was incredibly quavering and totally out of tune. I'd sit there staring transfixed ahead praying for it to end.

"Oh darlin' darlin staa-aand baa me. oh-oh-oh Stand, baa me. Sta-and. Oh Stand. Stand baa me."

Humming has nothing to do with being musical, it is much much more about being annoying. Google it once.

hahahahahahahaha. Yes, there are the wannabes who aren't actually that bad, then there are those who can't carry a tune in a bucket yet believe they're the next Michael Buble. LOL. I've dated a few guys who like to sit around the campfire with their guitar and sing. Takes me back to my tween years, at Bible camp, and feeling as awkward then with someone belting out some heartfelt religious tune ("It Only Takes A Spark".......ugh, that one made me want to gag)...and looking around to see everyone in almost a trance, staring into the fire and singing away. Ugh, still gives me chills and not the good kind. lol.

During my time on dating sites, I've met my share who claim to "write songs" and brag about their gee-tar playing abilities. Makes me immediately think of Phoebe Snow strumming away a few bars of "Smelllllllllllly cat, smellllllllllly cat...........what are they feeding you." :-)

My advice:

Pick up the guitar. It'll be hard going at first, but just try to learn three basic chords (A, D, and C.) Then find a song with those chords in it.

If you learn an instrument, and it's a "cool" one, women will flock to you (or at least be more perceptive than they were before.)

Your music and your connection is for you, and appreciate it as such. I hear some women go for musicians, but it doesn't apply to all women -- I don't care if a guy is musical or a professional musician. It just doesn't matter to me. If it makes him happy, that's great.

But a man who doesn't talk much and doesn't or can't express himself verbally? Pass. Verbal communication is essential to socializing and communicating in relationships, and also makes a big difference in professional success, regardless of field.

I'm not a verbal person myself and usually wouldn't talk much either, but I've worked to get past that. I came to realize that it's a pain to try to draw shy, non-talkative people out of their shell, and I can't blame anyone for passing me by if I didn't put myself out there to communicate with them.

Sorry, but I'm going to be blunt here -- I don't think your musical feeling is going to attract women. You need to learn to talk more and be able to express your ideas. It's important professionally, as well as personally. Maybe being able to talk about music and express your ideas about music would be a good place to start.

Yeah i don't do my humming in front of people pushing it on their faces. I just do it for myself when i'm outside walking or in my house.

And about not attracting women. that's ok. I'm not trying to attrac t women with it. But I'm saying some women like men who have some passion for something . mine is humming . And i like to share it with nice girls who are friendly towards me.

In fact i've done it with the nice girls i've met and they like it!! But they're foreign friends i made. It's interesting that American/Western women think what i do is stupid and childish and annoying and yet the other girls like it. mmmm.... so you see why I fear making friends with American girls? they think if a guy acts cute or silly or funny or is shy, it's stupid and immature.

Why is that? I don't quite get it.

But in any case, when i do my scat singing/huming/beatbox thing, I'm not being silly. I realy get into it. It's just like singing.

Anyways, i still hope that at least some American women are accepting of my personality.

But back to the topic

Humming has nothing to do with being musical, it is much much more about being annoying. Google it once.

Actually humming is very musical. In case you don't know, when i say hum i mean things like Scat singing. and switching between scat, humming, falseto. It's a great talent. Have you ever heard of Naturally 7??? They do the same thing i do and they're a talented group.

Women (and everyone else) apparently don't like base singers. OTOH they LOVE it when a guy sings like Alvin the Chipmunk or a little girl.

BTW want to hear women yodel? Then go to a crowded beach, a fair, or an amusement park where there are a lot of kids who get lost. You'll hear a lot of women yodeling the dorky-sounding names of their kids.
