Ok here is the deal. My girl and I have been dating for about a year and 4 months. We have lived together for about a year and it had been like anstory book. At least I thought so. She is 22 and I am 30 with 2 kids that I have twice a week. We do everything together and never went an hour without talking or texting or something. We were perfect! I mean she even tried proposing to me and even bought me a ring.

She has always dreamed of becoming a vet. Her mom is also a vet and has alot of money. Her mom tells her that she will pay for vet school and she will have to go away for 3 years for school. This is all good and we made plans for me to visit and all that. My girl new that I was planning a proposal and told me that she her mothers blessing first. So I met with her mom and she denied me saying "She needs to be married to her school work"! So i left the meeting and was trying to be sweet in emails telling her mom how much I love her daughter. At this time my girlfriend was away for 3 days. Her mom then called her and told her if she doesn't move back home NOW she will not pay for school. So, she does and here we are. She used to call all the time and text and poetically tell menhow much she loves me. Now, I am lucky if I get an hour a day.

My girl tells me that between school, her mom, and me she is feeling like she is being "spread thin and needs breathing room". She says that she is so stressed over everything that she doesn't know how to handle it. Indont understand how a relationship that was so full of love can change overnight to a casual dating courtship.

She says she loves me, and she wants to make it work but she doesn't want it to "feel like" work. What should I do?

It could be that you guys are going down two different paths. It happens sometimes. I'm feeling it right now in my current relationship. My advice is to let it play out. That's all you can really do at this point.

Well it sounds like the mother doesn't really approve of you and....she IS young (22 is young). Her mom just sees it as protecting her daughter, but maybe the girl realized that marriage etc is a big step. Do you know if she wants to marry you still?

I'm sorry you're going through this. It sucks. From reading your post it does sound like you and your girl are in different spots in life. You are 30 and have kids and she is just 22 which is a bit younger. I know you don't want to hear that but it's just one person's opinion. I know when you go to school for something very intense such as being a vet, it overwhelms you. The school work and dedication you have to give to your studies is extensive. I know. I lost my relationship due to being so stressed out over this aspect of my life. I hope it works out for you two. It sounds like she loves you but she is trying to detach from you so she can dedicate herself to this program. Maybe the best thing you can do is be supportive (even though you don't like it) and in the future she will realize what a great guy she has and come back to you.

She says she wants a future and thatshe hopes this will work but she seems numb and is not half as sentimental as she was just 1 week ago. For example, it is 1030 right now and I have not heard from her. I have no idea where she is and this never used to happen. It happens now every day.

I know what you mean. My girl doesnt contact half as much as she used to. It hurts man. You can either adapt to it or tell her your unhappy with the lack of contact. Its stupid to be in a relationship while being unhappy. I'm coming to realize this now and might break things off in my relationship.
