Disillusioned Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 One of the things that turns me off about online dating are the headlines people are asked to write for their profiles. We've all seen the ones where they're trying to be witty: if variety is the spice of life then I'm a chili pepper, you tried the rest now try the best, blah, blah, blah. But then this morning, I thought you know, you can't win either way. Someone who's honestly looking for love (not to mention they suck at lying) is eventually going to write something like "I don't need a headline", and right away my impression would be "damn, that person sounds so arrogant, they might as well marry themselves." I presume they don't let you leave that stupid headline space blank. Even if you did, anyone who saw it in a search would probably think you're a robot. Can't win.
LeaningIntoTheMuse Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 A headline isn't going to make someone find you attractive, if they don't. An example is a clearly obese girl, who had something witty in her profile headline. I found her to resemble the Lock Ness Monster, but I admit, it was a well written profile. I never IM'ed her, though. I don't date people I'm not attracted to.
Kari Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I don't see the point in posting the headline either. I would likely try to avoid it. If I had to put something simple, I would avoid any pick up lines or anything cheesy over the top.
