DontWorryBHappy Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 So, after my ex and I broke up he gave me a painting (because he's an artist) claiming that he had painted it for me a little while ago and never gave it to me. At the time I accepted it, but now I want rid of it (for obvious reasons... as in, do I really need any reminders of him?) but the thing is, i dont know what to do with it! I plan to donate a couple other things from him (like bed sheet that he bought me... from the dollar store... lol). But I'm not sure what to do with a painting. Can you donate paintings? I dont really have the heart to throw it out (is that weird?). I feel like maybe someone, somewhere could enjoy it. Anyway, I thought about throwing it in front of his door but realized thats the worst idea, because it would be a way of me communicating with him, and might give him a reason to say something to me, so that's a definite no. What should I do with it????

One day you will run across it again and will either want to chunk it/give it away/sell it...or maybe you will keep it because it will no longer remind you of him and you are completely happy and moved on.

What should I do with it???? Take it to a Thrift Store or Salvation Army. They normally accept donations. Sell it on Craigslist for free. Put a posting in your apartment complex for "free wall artwork", wrap it up and store it somewhere until you have the heart to toss it or just hide it away and one day you'll find it, hang it and wonder who gave you that painting!
