Stats are 4'11 and a 29.0 BMI as of this AM. Obviously not choosing any of the things that indicate a svelte figure, and I'm not obese -- not even medically. I am still trying to lose.

Because I was bitching that I couldn't find decent pictures that showed my body type, my coworker snapped this one of me. Not my best photo by a long shot, but I put it up there for now because in online dating it really *does* matter -- there's no need for someone to waste their time if they aren't going to be attracted to my body type. Yes, I'm crossing my legs. But I did look at the girls in my area and the ones that are choosing "full figured" seem to be much larger than I am.

Here's the pic.

I come to you folks for honesty, people... ;)

honestly, it doesn't matter. as a fellow online dater (and a man) i don't read the one line details other than religion and kids. they're going to look at the pictures, interests, and the essay, not much else.

That is not true. You may wish it was true but people do take everything into consideration.

Do not base your body type on what other women have on their page. Base it on your body type. If I based my body type of the "average" size women on OKC I would end up being "skinny" which is a huge stretch by any means.

I am about 165-170 pounds and 5'8 and I used full figured when I did use the site.

that's no different than a mildly attractive woman keeping two ugly friends around to make herself look better. it works, especially in a dark restaurant or bar.

seriously, men will filter out the highest option, expecting all of those to be the 300-400 pounders. the rest they'll search through and look at the pics.

for all of the effort you women put into your appearance i'm not sure a lot of you understand that men have wildly varying tastes. you don't have to be a size two to be attractive. in fact many men find overly skinny women unattractive. other men will only chase the girl with her ribcage showing through her skin.

there's no way to quantify that in a drop down box on a webpage with 4 or 5 options. you have to look at the pics.

You have some really nice features that a lot of men desire. long hair, curvey body, nice face. I think you should enhance those featurres for you pic. for example, for your profile pic, put some long loose curls in your hair. Enhance your pretty face with some makeup. a light pink lip gloss, and some eye makeup to enhance your eyes. of course do a more natural look. I'm not saying cake it on.

What I mean is it looks like you're at work. go home and get ready like you're going out on a date and then take the pic. Just a little girly advice. take it or leave it. :)

My only advice is never post smootchy face pics. Those are annoying

i agree with orion.

don't really care for work pics. if it looks like you put effort into the clothes, the hair, and the backdrop/location of the pic, you'll get more interest.

Caption says I'm at work, so hey, it's honest. And that's what really matters to me in this. I'm hoping to get better ones, so thanks for the advice. I'm really not much of a makeup-wearer, wasn't even in my original profile pic -- it's six months old, but I've actually lost weight since it was taken, so it's still an honest pic. The one I linked to is a secondary, mainly because I wanted one other to show my figure.

It's funny, though, I've already run across the profiles of two of my coworkers. Not surprised they are high matches, but when I go in today both will be sitting within 8 feet of me. I've worked with someone I was dating once, but we had already been dating when we were hired (we'd met on a different project and got together after that project ended). Not my thing.

see i don't get that.

women have a plethora of options in clothes, makeup, shoes, hair, and such that they can use to make themselves look attractive. why not use all of the tools at your disposal?

and besides, men do the same. you think we would spend thousands on those tailored clothes if we could get the same results with 75 bucks on white tshirts and levis?

yeah, we know you're not going to look the same when you get out of bed in the morning, just like we're not going to look the same with our paint stained white tshirt, torn blue jeans, and raggedy old tennis shoes while cutting the grass. but women who know how to dress well, wear makeup well, and other such things suggest intelligence and confidence. women who refuse to do so suggest no positive trait that i can think of.

Well, I hope you don't feel that what I was wearing that day was the equivalent of a tshirt and Levis.

But mainly, I don't wear makeup because it's hard to find any that actually matches my skin -- I'm a ginger. Plus, I've been taught all of my life that the best makeup job is one that looks like you're not wearing any at all. Until I find a set of products that doesn't make my face look 3 shades darker than the rest of me, I think I'm better off. :)

Here is my main profile pic, the one that is my face shot.

Thanks for the suggestions all! No, I'm not expecting 700 replies off of that one picture, and no, I didn't feel it was the best one of me at all. But if you're overweight, in my opinion a body shot is a necessity. That's the one I'll use until I can get someone to snap my pic on a Friday night or something.

I hate wearing makeup too. I found using mascara, light blush and a sheer lipgloss works really well. I hate foundation and never wear the stuff.

Does Cupid want you to choose from a multiple choice for body type? What are the options?

Of the four that could apply to me, they are "a little extra", "overweight", "full figured", or "curvy". Right now I've got "a little extra" because while I'm certainly curvy, I'm not an hourglass figure. Maybe when I lose the 20 lbs I need to in order to no longer medically be classified as overweight I will switch to that, but until then... yeah.

I'd go with "curvy." That's an option on OKC, right?

Don't do "a little extra." Essentially that means "fat."

Nice pictures and gorgeous hair. Good luck with OKC!!!

Posted

At 29 BMI you are borderline obese so I would go for full figured.

Agreed with this, including gorgeous hair!!

I'd suggest 'curvy' as a profile descriptor and using clothing and poses which accentuate your height and visually lengthen your body for photographs. My exW was 5'1" and weighed between 170 and 190 during our M and she was expert at this and photographed very well. You'll find her at far left in this picture from one of our trips to Oz. Note the posture, how her Levi's hide two inch heels, the layering of clothing, the tasteful and minimal makeup and the smile on her face. At the time of that photo, she was 48 years old.

You appear to be a lovely lady who presents a perhaps off-beat/eclectic personality through your pictures. I think you'll do fine. Good luck :)

Those thighs look like they're just begging for twins. Stand up and show them off, girlfriend!

All those choices mean essentially the same thing except maybe a little extra. In any case no one would think you're misrepresenting with one of those.
