lovingADove Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 If you had a choice, would you rather date someone from your social circle (assuming you have a pretty good one and plenty of options there)... or date some total stranger, that you meet on some random online site or at some random location... I had this discussion with some friends last week and I thought it was interesting how opinions varied between women and men.
Confusedalways Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I'm a woman and would much, much prefer to meet a stranger. Come to think of it, out of all my [girl] friends, my boyfriend is the only one who was a random meet, all theirs were within their social circle.

LOL, I assume from the way you put this, "date some total stranger, that you meet on some random online site or at some random location...", that you side with dating from your own social group. I think you need to take the same precautions weather you meet someone new online or at a club. Keep it public until you get to know the person, weather your a guy or girl. I heard of people having a background check done, LOL. I guess if that is what it takes to make you feel comfortable thats fine. I liked dating outside of my so called social circle. My wife was outside my normal social circle. In fact I use to go out on more blind dates, when I was young, than most people.
fortyninethousand322 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I think it depends. If it was someone that me and my social circle both met at the same time I think I'd be ok with it. But I'm a somewhat later arrival to my social circle (most of them had known each other since high school or earlier) so if it was someone that they knew for a while I might be hesitant. I mean it would be like they knew more about my girlfriend than I did, and it would make me feel a little weird.
