alethean Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 An hour drive? I don't consider that too bad at all, even though I'm no fan of driving. I have a friend who had a gf that lived 6 hours away; they would take turns driving to see each other every single weekend. Now that's dedication. And my parents and most of my relatives spent half their courtship on different continents so I have never been daunted by distance in particular.
TuffCookieX Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I've driven 1.5 hours to meet someone from a dating site for a date that went horribly. He was SUPER shy, barely spoke... then got drunk while I ran to the bathroom to throw up because I got randomly sick. And on my way home he kept calling me to say how much he liked me. Couldn't say it to my face because he was so shy and sober. I learned my lesson and if someone wants to meet me, they do the driving. I also work 6 days a week (my one day off being Monday), so going far doesn't work into my schedule. I went on three dates with a guy who lived 2 hours away and he drove to my place every time. Same with some other guys, one drove to me the first two times, then I decided I liked him enough for me to go visit him at his place. These men were all from dating sites. One time a guy drove far to me so I was the one who bought us both dinner.
TokyoG33kyGal Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 i cannot find my match in this country. i used to be so strict only with dating guys from Tokyo and anyone i can reach by a max of 2-hour train ride. but then i was talking to this incredible guy. he happened to find me cuz he cannot see anyone from his area too. he said oh...maybe we can be chatmates/penpals. i had the same idea in mind but as we talked and talked, played video games together...we cannot deny that we are a great match. if i had immediately filtered him out, i could've missed the chance. ...and now we are reuniting, will end the long distance and be married soon
TuffCookieX Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 You must live in a dense, populated area then. I find that most people that live in an area that's more "spread out", 20 min drive is a cakewalk. lol I don't like anything more than 30 mins, I don't live in a city but dense suburbs in central New Jersey and can't imagine being any more rural than this. 20 minutes is like 4 towns away as it is.
Star Gazer Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I'd say over 30 minutes without traffic is pushing it, over 45 is a no-go.
