thatone Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) I think people should really get over themselves- yes I get why people don't like tatoos, they look ugly, look worse when you get fat, fifty etc... In a society that is supposedly meant to be more tolerant people still have ****ty prejudices... It's YOUR body do what you want to it- as long as you are being responsible. I mean you would never tell a black women- cover yourself in fair and lovely before going to that job interview... so why should you do that to someone who has tattoos? i'll use the wedding example again. you don't wear basketball shorts and a tshirt to go to a wedding in. now imagine if someone had nothing but basketball shorts and tshirts in their closet. not only that, but they couldn't buy formal clothes, they could ONLY wear the basketball shorts and tshirts. that's what a tattoo that isn't covered by whatever clothes you wear to a formal or professional occasion is. black women don't tattoo themselves from head to toe to make their skin darker, they were born that way. racial differences are another matter. for example pale white guys who shave their heads to the scalp. it looks stupid 9 times out of 10, and the assumption is the guy is prematurely bald and is shaving his head to cover it up. on black guys it usually looks good, and since michael jordan has been around is considered fashionable for them. that's a completely different situation, because it isn't permanent. if fashion changes those black guys can grow their hair back out. tattoos are permanent. it has nothing to do with prejudices or what the tattoo will look like when you're 50. if you have tattoos that aren't covered by the clothes you wear you are automatically limited to people who like tattoos in all walks of life. and people who limit themselves to certain social circles and cannot function with people outside of their social circle are automatically shallow and selfish. that's what a visible tattoo says.
