Alright, so I have a wonderful boyfriend who does everything for me, I have a good family, good friends, I have a car, I have good grades, I graduate from high school in two weeks, yet I always am unhappy for some reason. I always try to be happy and enjoy things, but I just can't. For example, prom was last night and I couldn't even fully enjoy it because something is just wrong with me... I don't know what it is or how I can fix it. I do have a lot of self image problems. I am self conscious and I don't like my body and I don't really love myself. How can I fix this? I want to see a therapist and see if that will help.. Please give advice if you have any!

Yes, please see a therapist, specifically, one with a medical degree. Unfortunately, no one here or outside of the medical field will be able to help you with this problem. You should really do this.

I agree. Seeing a therapist is an excellent plan. Sounds like perhaps you have some depression, particularly if you find you're just not finding any happiness or contentment in life. I think a therapist can help you get to the bottom of it, good for you for being open to this.

the fact that you're honest about yourself and honest about wanting to see a therapist is a huge first step in the right direction, i agree. go ahead, see a therapist.

Also, do you have anyone close to you; Mom, Dad, sister, aunt, cousin, best friend who you can share this with? Sometimes it's helpful to have someone we trust to confide in when feeling unhappy and down on ourselves. It can really help to lighten our burden when we share it, you know? Is there someone you can turn to in this regard? You still should see a therapist too, of course.......or even your family doctor if you have one and can't get into a therapist right away.

The person who I confide in about everything is my boyfriend. He helps me, but I feel as though I make our relationship worse because I turn him into my best guy friend who I talk to about my problems rather than my boyfriend.

Don't do this. Your boyfriend is likely too young to handle such deep matters, lacks the skills to handle this medical situation and will make you too dependent upon him. Speak with your primary care physician and tell him all what you wrote above.

i agree. that's why people go to school for years and years for this stuff. your boyfriend isn't a trained professional, a therapist is.
