orangelady Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 That's brilliant. I actually like that. I only want to date someone who thinks she is attractive (or at least "above average" if there's a box for that) because I associate it with confidence, and I associate people who think they are not attractive with unhappiness. I might even borrow this. Yeah but some people are 300lbs, greasy hair, bad skin and still think they are beautiful or attractive. What do you call that? Confidence?
phineas Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Yeah but some people are 300lbs, greasy hair, bad skin and still think they are beautiful or attractive. What do you call that? Confidence? If I were a woman i'd call them deleted from my inn-box.
irc333 Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Oh man, this woman is ticked, she updated her profile with a serious list of "men, please don't email me if...." lists And she also had this to say: First date would consist of you kissing my ass, cuz after all the losers Ive met on this site that's what it's gonna take to believe any of you have something to offer. It's so funny, because I've emailed these women before, but of course, never got a response, because they ignore decent men. But then whine and complain about them in their blog/dating profile. Seriously, delete your profile, that's all I can advise if it's that bad.
oaks Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Yeah but some people are 300lbs, greasy hair, bad skin and still think they are beautiful or attractive. What do you call that? Confidence? Yes! But I also call her "not my type", and if she's struggling to get dates she should fix her hair and skin (at least for long enough to take a better photo).
MarlyStar Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Unrealistic expectations abound among both genders. Here's one from a man: "I am a very sensitve guy, who must have honesty, truthfulness, and be treated the way I treat people. the whole woman is taken into account, not just beauty, attractiveness, or brains or anything else. The woman should not be on here to play games. I am not one to just talk through a computer. She must be willing to meet in a crowded place and talk and see if we hit it off.I find it very dsitasteful if I receive a clal from a potential date adn she blocks her numebr. I am not a stalker. If soemoen told me she was not itnerested, that would be it.I do not hide my number I expect the same. Honesty. I would rather be told the truth even if it would hurt rather than be lied to." He's 59 years old, 5'2", divorced with 2 kids and makes less than $25,000 a year and is looking for a 35-45 year old women. And his one picture shows him to be definitely 'round'. And yet he's going to complain if a woman uses basic protection and keeps her number private if she calls him? How many calls do you suppose he gets that he can be so offended? Who would think this is a good profile? I'm surprised he ever got a call.

I don't think that it's unrealistic to get a woman's phone number before going on a date. Actually, that's pretty much the way it's usually done.
Disillusioned Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Man oh man. With all that negativity floating around in the singles world, the guy who runs the company that made my Realdoll must have dollar signs in his eyes. The irony is that he's probably rich and unavailable.

Realdolls work for men because it doesn't talk and it fits their ..... well.
MarlyStar Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) I don't think that it's unrealistic to get a woman's phone number before going on a date. Actually, that's pretty much the way it's usually done. He's complaining that she's blocking her number when she calls him. Not necessarily before a date. No one should be pushed or shamed into giving out personal information before they are ready. "...I find it very dsitasteful if I receive a clal from a potential date adn she blocks her numebr..." She's a 'Potential' date, not yet a date; I think it's peevish of him to be offended that she *67 her first call to him. I myself have a tracfone just to use for people and organizations I don't want to know anything about me. I might date a guy several times before I give out my personal numbers. Once out it's a pain to change them--and then notify everyone of your new number. But a tracfone number, you just wait until the minutes expire or abandon what's left of $10. Also the sheer number of spelling errors are a huge turnoff. You can go back and fix them as often and for as long as you like, but he took not effort. The guy's 59, makes less than $25K, and doesn't seem right. I wonder if he's on disability or something. Edited May 15, 2011 by MarlyStar

Yeah, I agree that it's sort of weird for a guy that's 59 years old and makes less than 25K to expect a woman 14 years or more younger than him to date him.
Disillusioned Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I wish it was that simple for ladies. Get a Kendoll or something. Problem is, women need a doll that talks and has emotions. Realdolls work for men because it doesn't talk and it fits their ..... well. Well, yes and no. I know from experience that Realdolls are not designed for platonics. No dolls are. That's because they're sex dolls, not platonic love dolls. TTBOMK nobody makes realistic life-size sweet, innocent-looking female dolls which aren't anatomically correct. As for male dolls, they do sell a male one... I guess it would be possible to hide a battery-operated squawk box inside the chest of one so he could talk, but remember, you'd be cutting into an $8K doll. What women really want is a man with the brain of a woman transplanted into his head... if he can talk like Dame Edna, likes to go shopping, likes to dress up in formal suits, and hates tech stuff, the more women will like him.
phineas Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I treated online dating like regular dating. I just figured it out as I went along. Yeah, I put my hobbies & what I liked to do. I did put down that over the last 2 1/2 yrs i'd adopted a whole new healthy lifestyle with proper diet & exercise & liked biking, roller blading, hiking ect & would like to meet someone with the same interests. I did get a lot of women with strong myspace angles sending me "hi" emails. women who obviously arn't very active at all. I just ignored them. I might activate my profile again this summer. It really depends on how I do when I go out. It doesn't take me long these days to decide if i'm wasting my time or not & I can usually figure out if something is off with a woman by the first date.
Author Sabali Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 Do you guys know a good number of people who actually are in long term relationships that met online? I know one. He is one of my best friends and he is married to the woman and loves her very much. That is the only one I know.

I don't think it matters how people meet. some of the women I met in real life & entered relationships with I wish I hadn't. LOL!

phineas Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 To each his own, of course. I haven't met anyone online that went more than 2 dates. However I've only tried online dating for a few months whereas I've got about 15yrs of dating (not counting the time I was with my ex-wife) in real life. so I can't even begin to judge suitability of people online with such a small time frame.
Darren Taylor Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I saw this quite a bit the one time I was on a site. The ones who say they don't want or have time for games, are usually the worst offenders. Whether or not they do it purposely, that I don't know.
