Ajax Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Happened to me the other day. They were from a wedding we attended together. They've been delt with.
VicJay79 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 And it makes me sad. I am so sorry. These things hurt quite a bit . There isn't much to say except things will get better with time. I try not to look at old pictures because they hurt a lot. I just try to get on with my day....
threebyfate Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 If they're hard copy, seal them away into a box and store them somewhere you're not accessing regularly. If they're soft copy, zip them up in a file and store them on an external hard drive. Or, dispose of them all. Looking at them is like running your tongue over a toothache. Initial sharp pain, then dull thudding ache.
Fufu Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I delete all the pictures I had of my ex or were with him. Physical or in computer, deleted and trash them all. My thoughts, "Spare me from the agony."
ccfan Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Do not store them, just erase them for good. The less remainders of the ex the better..
Author betterdeal Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Thank, guys. Happily, the melancholic clouds have past. These are some of the last reminders I have of her. I wasn't sure they existed, but I found them when rooting around for something else (and yes, there was a voice in my head wondering if they were there). I think I'll think about what to do with them. Thanks again.
Author betterdeal Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 All deleted, free space on disk being wiped now. And the postcard that was on the wall has been shredded. I think that's everything now. Ahhhhhhhhhh......
Ajax Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 All deleted, free space on disk being wiped now. And the postcard that was on the wall has been shredded. I think that's everything now. Ahhhhhhhhhh...... Every time I think I've purged everything that reminds me of my ex, I happen too come accross something else. It's been nine months. I have memorabilia from past relationships that didn't bother me. But with this one everything had to go. As long as there was something to remind me of her she had power. Kind of like Voldamort's horcruxes.
Author betterdeal Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Ha ha, I can see how it can seem like that. I see it as objects that make me unhappy so I get rid of them. I've done the analysis and tried to think my way out of it, and now I just try to keep things simple: if it hurts, don't do it.
