So one of my favourite ways of coping, not only with relationship issues but life is general, is to browse through as many famous quotes as possible. I figure this is a pretty good idea for a thread. I find it to be a good way to distract myself and gain a different perspective. Serious, funny, song lyrics, inspirational, stupid, whatever you like. Feel free to share!

"Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one"

- Bruce Lee

"Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought"

- JFK

"If you are flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit"

- Mitch Hedberg

"If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything"

- Malcolm X

"It is better to remain silent and be thought of a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt"

- Abraham Lincoln

Love this idea - I am the same exact way! I actually just bought some frames and I am creating a "quote wall" by my doorway. I picked out these 5 quotes to place there:

"Nothing can bring you peace but yourself."

"We have more possibilities available in each moment than we realize."

"I promise myself that I will enjoy every moment of the day that is given to me to live."

"No one is in control of your happiness but you."

"Your work is to discover your work and then, with all your heart, to give yourself to it."

I find looking at quotes very cathartic, and actually being able to do something with them (framing them) gives me a very empowered feeling, and a constant reminder to always be true to myself and keep moving forward with a positive mindset. :D

“You know, a long time ago being crazy meant something. Nowadays everybody's crazy.”

Charles Manson

This quote gets me through many bad situations. Just knowing everyone is insane on some level helps me deal.

I try to make a point of posting a new positive or funny quote on my Facebook account every couple of days. These are some of my recent favourites:

Excuse me....has anyone seen my sanity...I seem to have lost it.

Life's disappointments are harder to take if you don't know any swear words.

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you’ll understand what little chance you have in trying to change others.

Actions speak louder than words and they rarely lie.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change

Love is the ability and willingness to allow those that you care for to be what they choose for themselves without any insistence that they satisfy you.

The stupid neither forgive nor forget; the naive forgive and forget; the wise forgive but do not forget.

Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Life isn't like a box of chocolates, it's more like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.

Have a great day :)

"Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life."
