Im sure many of you have heard "I need some space" "I need to figure myself out" Some say they want to break up, theres someone else, or that they are letting you down easy. Going NC is always the thing to do here. But when a girl asks for a break do they really mean it? as if they are going to come back to you? It doesnt make any sense. I personally take it as they want to explore other options and not lose you either. Which is why I handled the cards I was delt and didnt allow myself to be on the back burner. I asked straight up you want me 100% and she said 99% and I said ok bye. Some tell me I should have given her the space and that I should do that in the future, but I still think I did the right thing. Plus we are 2500 miles apart so that alot of space. Just curious to see what other people have experienced. My break up was out of a break. I asked her to chose and not string me along and she broke up with me saying it wasnt fair to keep me in limbo. Im trying to learn from this to better deal with it if it comes up again in a future relationship. Edited May 4, 2011 by loverboy1984
ummike26 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I just went through this whole "I need a break to see what I really want in life" thing with my ex. Basically it means another guy planted a seed in her head that there are better options available and she wants the freedom to see whats out there. I did not want to be a doormat so the relationship is over.. If she loved me as much as I loved her that seed would have never been planted. So "a break" to me is a nice way of saying I'm tired of this relationship and want to date another guy.
robkris8079 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I don't even know what the hell I'm on. Two days ago my girl was telling me she doesn't know what she want's or want's to do all via text. I confirmed it was about us and called her right up. After 3 missed calls, because she knew what was coming, she finally answered. The short story of the conversation is I told her go figure it out and let me know when she does if it includes me. Also told her when she does no way of telling if I'll still feel the same. That was two days ago and haven't heard from her since. This is a 4-1/2 year relationship. Enjoy your new freedom! I'm still a mess but life goes on. Hell it's only been two days for me .

The beginning is the toughest part. It gets better day by day though. I'm at 2 months and improving daily. Just keep moving so you don't have to think about the past.

When she asked for a break she told me "breaks are supposed to make things less complicated so I dont hurt you but I think its made it more complicated and I have hurt you." looking back at this now with a clear head makes me go what the hell was I thinking then. Why did I let someone talk to me like that? Im giving her space now and hope she does figure herself out. I was a good person then and Im a better person now and if someone needs a break to see that then they have no taste. If they cant recognize love and good person when its in front of them then they will never find it, because they dont know how it looks like.
