HeartOnSleeve Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Would you want to text your number to someone you are seeing?! I feel as though it's kind of a personal thing and sometimes more conversation is needed, also to see how the other person responds. Rather than an akward text. Would you?
zengirl Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I would think anyone who asks that question via text is a little immature. I suppose sometimes it might come up in organic conversation in person (I've actually never had a guy ask me or tell me his number, except back when I was very young and it was more asking if I was a virgin -- a very different convo), but anyone who was so curious they asked it via text? Odd.
Sunstar Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Don't give your phone number to guys if you don't feel comfortable (yet) to do so.
refurb Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Wait, what? If he's sending you a text, doesn't he already have your number? RF

I don't understand this question at all. If you're seeing someone, shouldn't they have your phone number? Why is giving your phone number to someone you're seeing considered so personal?

zengirl Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I took it to mean the number of sexual partners. Hence my response above.
sanskrit Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Would text them a fraction and leave them wondering. 21.7 for example, then ask if a sheep counted as 1/2 or 1/3? Does a family member count as more than one? say 1.5? and if they are unconscious or dead at the time, does that count as less than 1? if so would a dead person be say .25, but a live but unconscious person be say .75? How bout ones you don't remember but were assured you did? Would that count as a full notch?
Author HeartOnSleeve Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 Yeah I meant your "Number" (sexual partners)....that's why I put it in "". Sorry for not clarifying. Yes I have been dating this person. It was just weird and I told them I didn't feel comfortable disscussing over text. But I wanted to see what others thought...maybe i was being a prude...lol
Confusedalways Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I would definitely tell them we could have a convo about it in real life- not over text.
cerridwen Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I would definitely tell them we could have a convo about it in real life- not over text. Agreed. I most certainly wouldn't do it.
Sunstar Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I think it is completely ridiculous there are people who only contact others through text and get worried about giving them a number. What if I don't have a cellphone or a cellphone with texting? Am I closed off from you and all girls thus making me an undateable leper scrounging around the dumpster at the local A&P? I guess it is a sign of the times. It is just becoming weirder and weirder. The walls get higher and higher, thicker and thicker between people. God take me now. Cellphones without texting capabilities have become quite rare though, I'm not sure they're still being sold, perhaps online they still are. If you don't have a cellphone then you can still talk face to face.
Sunstar Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Not with some of these girls. They only communicate through text and won't even use the phone to set up a face to face. Maybe I can get some messenger pigeons. That kind of sounds alien to me. Isn't it the point of dating to get together? (i.e. face to face)
