We've been dating a month and official for a week. Also note I've KNOWN her since 4th grade (we're 23 now).

She's just so amazing. I was going to sit on it so I didn't seem "creepy" but I decided what the hell. I didn't say "I love you" I just pretty much said "I've fallen in love with you already, and I know it's probably too soon."

She just thought it was sweet but didn't say it back and made it pretty obvious she doesn't feel the same way about me.

I guess my question is, do you guys "grow" to love people, and how long has it normally taken for you?

As a 28 y/o female who is in her 5th relationship let me break it down. This is my record.

#1 - high school puppy love. said it but didn't know what I was talking about

#2 - college - puppy love. said it after 3 months but still didnt know what it was

#3 - post college - said it after 2 months and meant it - great guy but I was not ready to settle down at the age of 23

#4 - 26 years old. said it after 6 months - would have said it sooner but was afraid to because he was an emotionally unavailable dill pickle who I was afraid of scaring off. 1.5 years of a very unhealthy relationship but I truly loved him. Blah

#5 I'm 4 months into a seemingly red flagless, healthy, prosperous relationship with someone my own age (28) and we exchanged L-words 3 months into dating and I do mean it.

For me - Love is just a term to express very powerful affectionate and SELFLESS feelings of care and trust.
