Alpha1 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Where are the moderators? I have sent 2 emails to Loveshack and was hoping someone could action them as a matter of urgency! Thanks
Kamille Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 The site currently has only one moderator who can only work part-time. It can take up to 4 days for responses. Note: he moderates on a volunteer basis. I hope your urgent request can be resolved easily.
carhill Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Tony.... I didn't see anything in your public postings that he'd likely take any action on, but it's worth a try.
Author Alpha1 Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 This is crazy. I hope they see my request soon Is there a personal email address available?
orangelady Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I have sent an email to LoveShack a month ago and never got any replies. I am also wondering why I am not an Established member yet as I have hit 500 over posts and it's already been a month.
Irishlove Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I'll nominate me to moderate. Or get someone who has been on here a long time.
orangelady Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Forget replies...it just doesn't happen. Also that is just for P/M....it takes a lot longer to become "established" OK well I am not seeing my P/M feature either. As for 'established', I've seen a few folks around here who only joined in March 2011 and they are already 'established'.
dreamingoftigers Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 The one moderator can't set up mods and the owner has been out of touch. There have probably been half of a dozen people that have thrown their names into the hat to volunteer. Right now his hands are tied.

Regardless of the fact that you have over 500 posts, you have to wait over the full month to become established. Hell, you could have posted only 100 posts or over a 1000 and you'd still have to wait for the full month.

Tried to look for it, but couldn't find it. And how would you know you could send PM's or established. The Dragon guy above mentioned that you can't be established in a month, it has to be way longer than that with way more posts. I'm confused now. Who's right here? Thanks for informing me of the date though. I knew it was March, but not sure when.
orangelady Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 And also...why is it that I have not come across a SINGLE person who has the little PM button on their profile. Is it because I don't have that feature yet?
anne1707 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 And also...why is it that I have not come across a SINGLE person who has the little PM button on their profile. Is it because I don't have that feature yet? Yes. If you can't PM, there is no point being able to see it on others' profiles
dispatch3d Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 but everyone here's insane, how do you pick the least sane out of that? ;-)
TaraMaiden Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Oh how did you check the exact date that I joined? Tried to look for it, but couldn't find it. Click on your own name, in one of your posts (in this thread is fine). You'll see a box appear. Click on "view Public profile". Your own profile will appear. look on the right-hand side, where it says "mini statistics" There's your joining date. And how would you know you could send PM's or established. The Dragon guy above mentioned that you can't be established in a month, it has to be way longer than that with way more posts. I'm confused now. Who's right here? He's incorrect. It IS a month. In a couple of days, you should be able to PM.
Author Alpha1 Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 I think its CRAZY there isnt someone on hand to help ITS NOW AN EMERGENCY to remove my thread as the real world has now found it and it could now because disastrous. I have emailed [email protected] If anyone can help i would be very grateful I think this needs to be looked at as i recon a mod for a site like this and as sensitive some bits are needs someone contactable! Thanks
Lorelei_Lane Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Honestly, if I remember the ToS right, they're not going to delete the thread because the "real world" found it. They would tell you to not use names next time and to pay attention to what your screen name is.
Mme. Chaucer Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 OP, you are bringing a lot of attention to your thread by THIS thread. Best thing is to just let it all drift into the back pages, at this point.
carhill Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Considering the OP's thread in question is relatively benign by LS standards and contains no information which parties outside of his immediate family are likely to find identifiable, I doubt admin will do anything with it. Then again, pester them enough and they might block your IP As a comparative example, read this thread OP. It might give you some insight into your situation. Drugs, kids, divorce and UK. Currently at post #1256

Thanks This is why it's so important to pick a username noone you know in real life could figure out it's you, and also don't post too much detail(s) that could indentify you and your situation(s). All you can do is either create another account and/or just leave LS completely. Sorry that you were found out though, that's awful.
Jazzari Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 It would be nice if people were allowed to delete their own threads without having to ask a mod.
anne1707 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 It would be nice if people were allowed to delete their own threads without having to ask a mod. But hardly fair on others who have taken time to respond and contribute
Jazzari Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 But hardly fair on others who have taken time to respond and contribute You are responding for the OPs benefit. If the OP needs the thread deleted for some reason, I can't see why anyone would object. He's read and (hopefully) appreciated your responses - mission accomplished. And if people care enough to respond, they should also care enough to respect his wishes.
carhill Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 The problem with retroactive deletion and redaction on a site like this, given the often emotionally charged subject matter, is that it opens the door for a toxic dynamic where certain individuals can start, edit and later delete inflammatory and disingenuous topics/threads/posts to target certain other community members and leave no trace, other than the fact that they actually posted/edited, as seen in the security logs. A currently acceptable (by the software) tactic is posting inflammatory content and then quickly deleting it, so those members who see full text in e-mail see the original content and those, including admin, who casually peruse the site/thread/post, only see the redacted/edited content. I see that happen often. My guess is the OP's comments about his FIL got him into some hot water. Spilling family business on the internet and all. I remember those kinds of family dynamics well. So glad that's over.

So glad that's over.Depending on the settings, Admin should be able to see the original post as well as the edited version. I can understand not wanting people to edit or delete posts in any thread. But I think deleting your OWN thread, should be acceptable. Of course, I haven't been around that long. If this has been a problem in the past then I can understand the restriction. But I generally think that only those few that abuse a system should be punished. Not the entire community.
