Why do good looks get you better treatment?

Hot receptionist keeps pissing off substantial revenue generating Client A by putting him on hold on a regular basis or accidentally cutting him off. Client A threatens to leave. Hot receptionist gets fired.

 

True story. Hot chick working at a well known Japanese car company, US regional office. Sorry, have to be vague.

 

She knows nothing. Pretty face, much like your dumb receptionist example. She's the technical lead for their lab engineers.

 

Reason? She's hot and she's sleeping with the boss.

 

Difference being she knows how to use her looks. I'm sure they don't go to her for technical leadership. They probably just keep her out of trouble and let her be.

 

A dumb hot woman will get used by others. She won't use anyone. A smart hot woman will use her looks to get what she wants. And she'll get farther faster than a capable smart woman that's trying to get places with hard work.

 

But anyway, I'm sure we can throw out anecdotal stories all day, and it really doesn't prove anything. These all can be thought of as isolated incidents. But as usual, we kept our discussion civil and out of the gender war territory. So that's a good thing.

I've seen some highly manipulative people (men and women) in every tier of looks that get ahead by using everything that's available to them.

 

This perhaps speaks less about looks and more about ethical integrity. Maybe one way of defining this is that people with looks have more to use but not all use their positive traits in a manipulative fashion.

 

One thing's for sure which we agree on, is that the impact of looks doesn't happen in a vacuum.

 

And yes, gender wars are boring and silly!

I think most people are attracted to the above average looking and stunning no matter where they fall on the attraction scale but most people settle for what they can get..

 

Do i think two obese people or two people with ugly faces were insanely attracted to each other physically at first sight?

 

I doubt it..They figured its all they can get and would rather be with someone then be alone..

I can find someone who is far above me in scale to be attractive. But it's in a remote, appreciative way. Like you'd admire a piece of artwork. I wouldn't be happy dating them because I would feel inadequate.

 

So while the supermodel wouldn't appreciate my SO, I don't feel like I've settled in any way at all. In fact, I was thrilled to find someone who is both a good man AND is also good looking. If Mr. Model walked by, I would certainly look but I would have no interest in touching.

Im talking about the ugly and repulsive people,your man might not be a model but im sure hes at least cute or decent looking thats a big difference

Beautiful women get as much negative presumptions as rich men. It does stem. From jealousy mostly but a lot of beautiful women and rich men do deserve the negative presumptions.
