I hear a lot of women saying they don't like "Bathroom mirror pics of their abs"...but what about the same goes for men.

I saw this personal ad of a rather HOT woman...she had about 4 regular photos of her, but one picture of her with her Iphone and a bathroom pic in her strink bikini....she had a killer body (nice rack, too).

Made me almost forget about the fact it was a tacky bathroom mirror pic, but now I'm torn. LOL

Is it much as a turn off for men, too?

Nope, I don't find it a turn off and I don't see why I should. Doesn't seem like a big deal if they took a pic in the bathroom mirror.

I suppose...but there's something "staged" about putting on a bikini either in your bathroom or living room, JUST for an online dating site.

As opposed to a more naturally, spontaneous picture of one in a bikini while at the beach or out by the pool

To me it's a sure sign of desperation no matter hot "hot" the woman looks, or that she really needs the money (hint, hint).

I'd NEVER take a pic of myself in a mirror. What's wrong with just asking my buddy to take a pic of me in my suit and e-mail it to me?

I try and avoid the woman that post pictures that are obvious attempts at showing off their body. It usually speaks to what they value in a relationship.

Not what I'm looking for.

Interestingly enough, she says she's neither desperate nor needy, and looks for the same. lol

Couldn't care less how 'staged' the photo looks. If she takes enough care of her body to look good in a bikini, that can only count in her favour.

any girl who posts a pic like that is getting her inbox flooded with many suitors who are looking to fix her pipes.

personally any one who has bathroom pics in underwear or a bikini is looking for you know what....

if they were serious and looking for a relationship then they could just put up a bikini pic from a nice vacation spot

It is perfectly fine. Just don't expect me to value you for your intellectual prowess or moral values when the first thing you do is shove a virtual representation of your *ss in my face.

It's like when a women has "pink" or "juicy" written on her ass yet gets annoyed when men stare. I wasn't staring at your ass, just practicing my reading comprehension.

I always and often take staged bathroom pics and don't even dare think its only for a dating site. Its to look at myself and see what I look like. Its the reason I bought a camera. I have no natural pics cause I have no friends. Am always alone so I've taken pics of myself at the beach too. And I like to see how I look in different outfits and makeup. All the pics I have are of myself; I have like thousands.

Maybe I should have a profile pic of myself taken in which I kneel and beg like a guy not wanting to be shot?

It depends what you're aiming for as a woman. If you're looking for one night stands with men, then putting up bathroom pictures in your bikini will accomplish your goal. While the guys that are looking for a serious relationship might think you're physically hot, they will not consider you as girlfriend material. You will most likely not attract quality men with pictures like that.

To give men the best physical overview of yourself add:

1. A picture of your face where you smile. (no ideal angles)

2. A picture of your face where you don't smile. (no ideal angles)

3. A full body shot that shows you physical appearance and clothes.

4. Make sure the pictures are properly lit. Pictures taken with your cellphone camera without a flash in a dark room is not the definition of "properly lit".

Avoid pictures where you are with other men, even with brothers, because guys that don't know you might think that that is your ex that you still hang around with or something to that degree. Men make (unconscious) threat assessments and that guy in your picture is a (possible) threat, that's just the way it is.

And DON'T do the duck face. EVER. It gives men the idea that you have no class or good taste. http://bit.ly/gIb4Uq

Umm, what about for those that don't have friends or much of a social life.. Are we expected to ask a stranger to take a pic of us by the pool? That's even creepier?

I don't take pics of myself for online sites; believe it or not, many women take pics of themselves to see what they look like from different angles, with different makeup on, in different outfits... We like looking at ourselves. Taking pics of ourselves is like LOOKING IN THE MIRROR BUT MORE ACCURATE AND PRECISE. When you look in the mirror too much it's hard to tell what you look like.

When I'm bored, I will sit in my car during lunch and just start snapping pics to see what my makeup looks like. By doing so I can tell which colors flatter me more and which ones don't. Taking pics of myself is a hobby; I do it ofr ME. Not to post on dating sites. I like to look at myself.

She seemed more focused in half the profile that she'd prefer to date another man with children so they can relate, but if he doesn't have kids, then as long as he gets along with kids, then that's fine.

I have to admit that I am turned off by photos of men without their shirts on in a bathroom mirror. Especially when I'm on a dating website and they use it as their profile pic. I definitely won't contact them.

Then she doesn't understand the signal that she's giving off in those pictures.

Funny you mention that, no joke, I had recently seen a picture of a woman's profile, the MAIN profile picture had a picture of a man with her arm around her waist.

Turns out, this was a party I had attended a while back, I knew the guy personally. LOL

And he was her date. (even funnier). LOL

I see a lot of women who do the "kissy face" online, too.

Most camera's these days have timers, so you can set the timer to 30 seconds, strike a pose and get your picture taken automatically. Newer models also have large flippable screens, so that you can see what your photo is going to look like: http://bit.ly/id8bQH

Having an adjustable camera stand also helps, that way you can place the camera at the desired height and angle.

I get "better" shots of myself when I take self portraits because I use the mirror to see what I will look like in the shot... I don't always take a shot of ME IN THE MIRROR but sometimes I use the mirror as a GUIDE because it REFLECTS the LCD SCREEN.

I am vain and I only like to take pics of myself from the most flattering angles; using a timer will not get you the best shot.

Also, when I take pics of myself, I usually take 100 (I am not exaggerating) and then select the MOST FLATTERING ONE and delete the rest. It would be too TIME CONSUMING to use the timer to take 100 pics of myself...

No problem at all.

LOL JJ I am constantly taking pictures of myself.

I also make my current bf take pics of the two of us (he has a longer arm). Luckily, he is a good sport.
