The following song, I'm translating it from Spanish as I'm listening to it. It was written by Mexican composer Jose Alfredo Jimenez, it's called "Ella" - tells exactly what happened to me a few days ago.

She

I got tired of begging

I got tired of telling her

That with out her

Of pain I'll die

She no longer wanted to listen to me

If her lips opened

It was to tell me

"I don't love you anymore"

I felt like my life

Got lost in an abyss

Deep and dark

Just like my luck

I tried to forget her

Jalisco style

But the mariachis

and the tequila

made me cry

I got tired of begging

With tears in my eyes

I raised my glass

And I toasted with her

She couldn't reject me

It was the last toast

Of a bohemian

With a queen

The mariachis came to a silence

From my weak hand

My glass fell

Without me knowing

She wanted to stay

After seeing my pain

But it was written

That on that night

I'd lose her love

I hope no one minds. This is my way of venting, listening to music, old Mexican songs, and translating them to English.

I know a lot can be lost in the translation, but it gives it an extra feeling trying to translate the lyrics, like dissecting the song, dissecting the words, the feelings; bringing them to life, feeling them more, focusing completely on the lyrics, not just listening to the song, but living it, being it.

This one is called "Yo" by Jose Alfredo Jimenez

I

I'm drunk, I'm drinking

Because destiny changed my luck

Your love, no longer matters to me

My heart forgot you forever

You were in my life,

A feeling that destroyed my whole soul

I tried killing myself, over your love

But I was able to recover my calmness

I

I who cried so much over your kisses

I

I who never spoke to you with lies

Today

I can only offer you contempt

I

I who had so much love for you

A gypsy, read in my palm

That with time you would adore me

That gypsy

Has foretold

But your life is no longer mine

Today my destiny

Carries a different course

Your heart stayed far behind

If now you love me

If now you miss me

I abandon you, to even things out

repeats

I

I who cried so much over your kisses

I

I who never spoke to you with lies

Today

I can only offer you contempt

I

I who had so much love for you

WHEN I PLAY MY HAND

by Jose Alfredo Jimenez

Now, for sure there's no hope

Our grand illusion has come to an end

Now for sure, I've torn from my chest

That sentiment, that obsession

I've understood, you're not worth anything

You let everyone love you

If at one time, you knew how to be good

You now live your life looking for pleasure

You've played your hand in your life

And destiny made you lose it

You don't want to feel lost

But soon you will learn, you will know

That the path you have chosen

I've been on it one thousand times as well

But remember, I'm a man -

and a man doesn't lose, like a woman does

In my arms you weren't happy

Besides me loving you so much

You preferred a meaningless love

Maybe out of caprice, spite or pleasure

You may think you leave me crying

That I'm going to bitter my life

But love like yours I have plenty of

Women that deceive, there's many out there

When I play the hand in my life

If destiny makes me lose it

I will look in the night for your kisses

To lose myself in them as well

Meanwhile I keep on forward

And I leave not even telling you farewell

In case we see each other again

When both of us aren't worth a damn thing

YOUR PATH AND MINE

A lot of ungrateful memories

A letter that hasn't been read

A picture thrown on the floor

And on my hand, a glass of wine

That's all there is in my life

I life that isn't worth anything

A story of lost love

Because you didn't want to be mine

In my sky there are only storm clouds

That foretell my sleepless nights

Forgetfulness, pain and betrayal

And in my eyes, a sincere flood of tears

I'll no longer be able to follow your steps

Your path is longer than mine

You leave looking for other arms

I stay to fulfill my destiny

I won't open your letter

I will never know what you wrote me

In a frame I will place your picture

And on my hand, another glass of wine

repeats

In my sky there are only storm clouds

That foretell my sleepless nights

Forgetfulness, pain and betrayal

And in my eyes, a sincere flood of tears

I do hope you're not somehow infringing copyright.....

I'm serious....

This can be viewed in a distinctly negative light by composers.

If a song is translated into another language, it doesn't necessarily render the copyright invalid....Normally, a translation has to be either commissioned by the artist, or translators should apply for permission.

By including title and Artist - well, that's a bit of a give-away, isn't it....?

It's a great way of getting it out of your system, but by publishing the translated text, you could be skating on thin ice.....
